in the Southern and the Western region of the country, there is no doubt that the
Northern region also has a huge count of popular Engineering institutes. This raises
the percentage of state level engineering entrance examinations that are
conducted to accept admissions into these reputed engineering institutes.

information related to the state level engineering examinations conducted in the
Northern, Central and Eastern region of the country. This includes a number of
popular engineering exams including UPSEE, WBJEE, Assam CEE followed by JCECE,

for WBJEE exam every year.

Bihar
BCECE

Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examinations Board (BCECEB) conducts Bihar


Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) for admissions to Engineering,
Medical and Agricultural courses offered by institutes located in the Bihar. BCECE is
conducted in two phases/stages, generally in the month of June.
Eligibility
Aspirants must be an Indian National and specifically a resident of Bihar.
An aspirant should also complete 17 years of age on December 31 of the admission year.
The aspirants should have passed the necessary subject according to their group -
PCM/Biotechnology, Biology and Technical vocational subject with a minimum of 45%
marks (40% for reserved candidates).
Pattern
BCECE is conducted in two Stages – Stage I and Stage II. Check the pattern below.
Stage I:
The first stage will be divided into various sections – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics,
Biology, and Agricultural Science. Each subject will have 50 multiple choice questions
worth 600 marks. The total duration of the exam is 2 hour 15 minutes.
Qualifying this stage is a must to appear for Stage II.
Stage II:
The sections in Stage II are the same as in Stage I - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics,
Biology, and Agricultural Science. Each section paper will be of 90 minutes (1.5 minutes).
While the total number of multiple choice questions is 100 in each subject, the maximum
marks will be 400. Each question will carry 4 marks. One mark will be deducted for
incorrect answer.
Attempting Physics and Chemistry is compulsory. Engineering aspirants should attempt
Mathematics.

Uttar Pradesh
UPSEE

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, formerly known as Uttar Pradesh State
Technical University (UPTU) conducts Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE)
to offer admissions to aspirants in professional courses which are available at the
university along with institutes that are affiliated to the University.
UPSEE is a state level entrance exam wherein candidates can secure admission at
government aided as well as private unaided institutes that are affiliated to UPTU along
with some other state universities of Uttar Pradesh.
Eligibility
Candidates who have completed their 10+2 or intermediate exam from UP board or an
equivalent exam from a recognised board or university with a minimum aggregate of 45%
with physics and mathematics/biology can appear for UPSEE examination.
The 15% seats in private institutions shall be filled by the Management/ NRI quota at
institute level under management quota as per eligibility criteria. The vacant seats in
NRI/Management quota or vacant seats after counselling of UPSEE shall be filled strictly
in following preference order, within fifteen days of the last date of counselling:
(1) Firstly, by the qualified candidates of JEE (Main) fulfilling the eligibility for BTech. /
BArch. Their relative merit will be decided on their rank in respective entrance
examinations.
(2) Secondly, by the qualified candidates of UPSEE those who fulfill the eligibility. Their
relative merit will be decided on their rank in UPSEE.
Pattern
UPSEE exam paper will have questions in multiple choice objective type format. The
language of instruction in the question paper will be both Hindi as well as English. The
duration of UPSEE exam will be three hours for BTech programmes. But, the duration for
BArch exam will be two and a half hours and for BHMCT/BFAD will be one and a half
hours. The question paper would contain 50 objective type questions each from Physics,
Chemistry and Mathematics (150 questions in total). Candidates will be evaluated out of
600 marks.

Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) conducts


Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) to offer
admission to candidates in undergraduate engineering, MBBS, Agriculture,
Forestry, BVSc & AH, Homeopathic, Ayurvedic degree programmes offered in the
state of Jharkhand.
JCECE is a state level examination which candidates need to give if they want to
secure admissions into different colleges in the state of Jharkhand for studying
engineering courses.
Eligibility
Candidates have to fulfill multiple eligibility criteria in order to appear for JCECE.
Candidates who does not fulfill any of the below mentioned JCECE eligibility
criteria will be disqualified for admissions during counselling. The eligibility
criteria for JCECE is as follows:
Pattern
This state level entrance exam is conducted as an offline exam. JCECE
is conducted as a multiple choice objective type entrance exam wherein
candidates have to mark their answers in an OMR answer sheet.
JCECE exam paper is divided into three sections wherein questions will be asked
from subjects such as – Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Each section will
have 50 questions. The entrance exam question paper of JCECE is a total of 150
questions.

DTODECE
Jharkhand Diploma to Degree Entrance Competitive Examination (Jharkhand
DtoDECE) is a lateral entry entrance test which is conducted by the Jharkhand
Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB). It is a gateway that
offers admissions to the interested candidates in the 2nd years of the 4 year
regular BE/BTech programmes under the lateral entry scheme. Through
Jharkhand DtoDECE, the candidates can seek admission in the Government and
Private colleges in the state of Jharkhand.
Eligibility
The minimum eligibility criteria for admission of the interested candidates in the
2nd years of the 4 year regular BE/BTech programmes under the lateral entry
scheme states that the candidate shall:
 Be a pass in 10+2 with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as compulsory
subjects from a recognized board or equivalent.
 Be a 3 year Engineering Diploma holder with a minimum of 45% (40% in case of reserved
category) marks in the qualifying examination.
 Be a pass in the Diploma course in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Drilling Technology,
Chemical Engineering.

Pattern
The Jharkhand DTODECE exam will include topics from the first year Diploma in
Engineering. The exam takers are therefore advised to have a thorough
preparation of all the topics in order to crack the nut.

West Bengal
WBJEE

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is conducted by the West Bengal
Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB).
The Common Entrance Examination will be conducted for admissions to
professional undergraduate and post graduate level courses offered in Engineering
& Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture in Universities, Government Colleges as
well as Self Financing Engineering & Technological Institutes in the State of West

Eligibility
Candidates are required to follow WBJEE eligibility criteria strictly in order to
successfully apply for this entrance exam. The eligibility criteria for the exam is as
follows:
Candidates who will appear for WBJEE exam to gain admission in Engineering /
Technology (other than Marine Engineering), Pharmacy and Architecture
programme have to be at least 17 years of age as on the due date. There is no upper
age limit for WBJEE.
Pattern
This entrance exam will be conducted in offline mode to test the aptitude of
candidates in three subjects which are Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Though, there are two papers:
Paper-I - Mathematics
Paper-II - Physics & Chemistry combined
Aspirants interested in Engineering/Technology/Architecture Courses need to
appear in both Paper-I and Paper-II is compulsory.

JELET is a common entrance examination conducted for admissions to lateral entry
into 2nd year (3rd semester) of four year Bachelor degree programmes in
Engineering/ Technology and Pharmacy. The exam is a gateway for admissions to
lateral entry programmes offered by Universities, Government Colleges as well as
Self-Financing Engineering & Technological Institutes in the state of West Bengal.
Eligibility
Diploma holders seeking admission to Engineering and Technology degree course:
 Aspirants must have passed Diploma in Engineering/Technology from an AICET
approved institute with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/SC/OBA – A/PwD)
or equivalent CGPA
 All relevant norms of DG shipping will be applicable for admission to Marine
engineering degree course
BSc aspirants seeking admission to Engineering and Technology degree course:

Jammu & Kashmir


J&K BOPEE CET

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE)


conducts a Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions to undergraduate Bachelor
of Engineering (BE) courses offered by Government and private institutes in the
state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Eligibility
The aspirants must be a permanent resident of Jammu and Kashmir.
They should have passed HS Part II (12th / 10+2) or an equivalent examination from
a recognized statutory Board/University. The candidates must have secured a
minimum aggregate 50% marks (40% in aggregate for reserved categories subject
to provisions of Reservation Rules / or any other regulation on the subject) in 10+2
exam in case of open merit category.
Applicants who are appearing or have appeared in Class 12th annual examination
can also apply for J&K BOPEE CET. These aspirants will be required to produce their
original marks card at the time or before counseling/ selection if they are selected.
Pattern
A three hour paper, J&K BOPEE CET will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
from three subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The paper will be
divided into three sections with 60 questions each(180 questions in total). For each
correct answer, aspirants will get one mark and for any question answered
incorrectly, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

Technical Education, Assam for admissions to the third year BE programme. It is a
gateway for admissions to the Engineering Colleges in Assam under the lateral
entry scheme. These colleges include Assam Engineering College, Jorhat

Eligibility
 The candidates should possess a recognized diploma of minimum of 3 years
duration from Polytechnic Institutions of Assam under the State Council of
Technical Education

The admission to the first 50% of the seats will be made on the basis of
merit/rank/score obtained in JEE Main. The remaining 50% seats will be filled up
on the basis of merit of HPCET.
In case the seats remain vacant after exhausting the merit of JEE (Main) and HPCET,
the remaining seats will be filled up on the basis of merit of 10+2 examination
conducted by a recognized Board or University.
The number of seats remaining vacant after making admission on the basis of each
test/examination will be shifted and filled on the basis of next text/examination in

least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category).

Domicile Requirements
 Aspirants who have passed/are appearing in the qualifying examination
from/in other states, but have domicile of Uttarakhand are eligible to apply
for admission under Uttarakhand quota. At the time of counselling, Domicile
Certificate must be produced issued by the competent authority.
 Aspirants who have passed qualifying examination from Uttarakhand
Technical Board/ Universities are also eligible for lateral entry seats but will
not be eligible for any reservation

Pattern
UKSEE will be held for nine papers with objective type questions. Candidates will
be required to opt papers and subjects for appearing in the entrance examination.
All questions will carry one mark for each correct answer. More than one answer
indicated against a question will be considered as an incorrect response. There is
no negative marking for any question answered incorrectly. However, a record of
all the questions answered wrongly by a candidate will be kept.

Chhattisgarh Pre Engineering Test (CG PET) is a state level exam conducted by the
Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (CPEB). The exam is a gateway for
admissions to undergraduate engineering programmes offered by 41 CG PET
participating institutes.
Eligibility
Qualifying Examination:
 Aspirants must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Maths, Physics as
compulsory subjects and Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Technical
vocational courses as optional subjects.
 For BTech Biotechnology, aspirants should have studied Biology instead of
Maths in their 10 + 2.
 Aspirants must have qualified CG PET
 Aspirants who have cleared JEE Main will also be considered eligible for seats
ear-marked for the same.
Pattern
CG PET is a three hour long exam with questions from three subjects - Physics,
Chemistry and Mathematics. For very correct answer, aspirants will get 1 mark.
There is no negative marking.

DTU LEET

Delhi technological University conducts lateral entry entrance test DTU LEET for
direct admissions to the 3rd semester of 4 year BTech programmes offered by DTU
under the lateral entry scheme. It is a gateway for diploma holders to get
admissions directly in the second year of the undergraduate BTech programme.
Eligibility
The candidates seeking admission to the BTech lateral entry programmes should
possess a state diploma of three years in any branch of engineering or equivalent
examination from a DTU recoganised university. The candidates should secure a
minimum of 60% (50-55% for SC/ST) marks in all the semesters as an aggregate.
Final year students who meet the eligibility criteria can also apply for admissions.
The only condition is that they need to produce all the certificates as proofs at the
time of admission. Failing which, their candidature is subjected to cancellation.
Delhi Region Candidates: A candidate passing the qualifying examination
(Diploma) from a recognized College / Institute / University located within the
National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi will be considered for Delhi Region only.
Outside Delhi Region Candidates: A candidate passing the qualifying examination
(Diploma) from a recognized College / Institute / University located outside the
National Capital Territory of Delhi will be considered for Outside Delhi Region only.

Admissions to the BTech programmes under the lateral entry scheme are offered
on the basis of a written test which is conducted by DTU.

The Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES) conducts Haryana LEET
which is an Online Entrance Test to offer admission to the interested candidates in
the BE/BTech programmes under the lateral entry scheme. The candidates seeking
admission will have to appear for an Online Entrance Test which includes various
skill tests like technical, communicative, general awareness skills of the candidate.
Eligibility
 The candidates has to clear the Diploma in Engineering/Technology of a
duration of 3 years or more from Haryana State Government. It is required
by the candidates to obtain a percentage of 45% (42.75% for SC) in order to
make themselves eligible for admissions Or
 A pass in BSc from a recognized University or UGC with a minimum of 45%
marks (42.75% for SC) and a pass in +2 with Mathematics as a compulsory
subject. It is mandatory for the BSc students to clear the subjects of
Engineering Graphics or Engineering Drawing. BSc graduate will only be
considered for admission after the supernumerary seats have been
successfully filled by the Diploma candidates
 There is a relaxation of 10% cut off for Kashmiri Migrant, subjected to the
minimum eligibility requirements
Pattern
The Haryana LEET examination is conducted online. The exam carries 4 sections of
objective type questions which are from topics as mentioned in the syllabus. Check

The exam will be of 90 minutes duration. Each correct answer will make you score
one mark and there is no negative marking in the examination. This gives the
candidate a fair chance to attempt those questions for which they are a bit dicey
