This page is NOT your bibliography (list of resources used in research)! This is simply a guide that will help you
gather information to write your bibliography. This guide models APA formatting.

Guidelines for writing your bibliography:


 Most bibliographic information will come from the title  Use “hanging” or reverse indentation (everything
page and title page verso (think “reverse”) in books except the first line of each entry is indented)
 List all sources alphabetically by first word in the entry  Punctuation is very, very important! Pay close
 Single space each entry; double space between entries attention to capitals, italics, parentheses, commas, etc.

Print Resources
Book – one author
Example: Levete, S. (2010). Toxins in the food chain. New York: Crabtree Publishing.
Author’s Last Name, First Initial. (Publication Year) Book Title City of publication: Publishing company.

Print Encyclopedia Article


Examples: Petrie, J. (2006). Daylight saving time. World book encyclopedia (Vol. 5, p. 54). Chicago: World Book.
Britannica (2007). Seven wonders of the world. Compton’s by Britannica (Vol. 21, pp. 182-184). Chicago: Britannica.
Author’s Last Name First (Publication Title of Article. Title of Encyclopedia (Volume, City of publication: Publishing company.
(If there is one) Initial Year) pages).

**Check at the END of the encyclopedia article for the author…most World Book Encyclopedia articles DO have an author listed!
