Miniature Daisy: Crochet Pattern & Instructions

Materials
- DMC tatting brilliant thread size #80 or DMC embroidery floss (use 2 stands of no. 25
embroidery thread): white, yellow, green
- Jewelry wire or craft wire ⌀ 0.3mm
- Crochet Hook size 0.5mm.
- Tapestry needle, scissor, tweezer
- Fabric stiffener
- White glue, multi-purpose glue

Notes
If you use the same thread and hook size in this instruction, your daisies will be 2.4 inches in
length and 0.75 inches diameter and suitable for 1:6th scale dollhouse. You can also try with any
other threads/ yarns you want to make a bigger or smaller item.

Abbreviations
This pattern uses US crochet terminology and standard crochet abbreviations as follows:
sl-st - Slip Stitch
ch - Chain
sc - Single Crochet
inc - Increase (2 single crochet in the same stitch)
dc - Double Crochet
hdc – Half double crochet
ML - Magic loop (adjustable ring)
rnd - round

Overview
The miniature daisy is made of 3 elements:
1. The flower
2. The leaf
3. The sepal

Now, let’s start
1. Flower
Start with yellow thread. Rnd 1 to Rnd 3 will be crocheted continuously (no chain at the
beginning and no sl-st at the end of rnd)
ML,
Rnd 1 - 6sc into ML (6)
Rnd 2 - [inc, sc] x 3 (9)
Rnd 3 - sc around (9), sl-st to the first stitch of this round.
Now change to white thread to make the petals.
Make a petal as follows:
*Ch 5, hdc into the second ch from hook, hdc into each of next 2 stitches, sc, sl-st into the
next stitch on rnd 3.**
Repeat from * to ** 8 more times. Finish the flower with a sl-st into the beginning stitch of
the first petal.
Cut off your thread.

2. Leaf
With green thread
Ch 2, ch 3, sl-st into 2nd ch from hook and the next ch (totally 2 sl-st), ch4, sl-st into 2nd ch
from hook and also into next 2 ch (Totally 3 sl-st).
Now rotate your work, work on the opposite side: ch 3, sl-st into 2nd ch from hook and the
next ch (totally 2 sl-st), sl-st into each of 2 ch from the beginning (please see diagram for
stitch placement).
Leave a tail of thread (about 1 inch), cut off

3. Sepal
With green thread
ML,
[Ch2, dc into ML, ch 2, sl-st into ML] x5
Leave a long tail of thread (about 9 inches), cut off. Now we have 3 parts of the mini daisy.

Finishing

1. Cut the craft wire into a 5 inches piece 2. Fold it in half

3. Insert the wire into the middle of the 4. Insert the sepal
flower (into 2 different stitches)

5. Use the crochet hook to pull all the 6. Apply a thin layer of white glue
excess thread from the flower through
the middle of the sepal.

7. Use the tail of thread from the sepal 8. When 0.75 inches of wire is wrapped,
to wrap tightly over the wire attach the leaf and continue to apply
glue and wrap tightly.

9. When you have about 4mm of wire 10. Continue to wrap 3 times, then fold
left, cut one side of the wire. the end of the wire up

11. Apply a drop of multi-purpose glue 12. Spray fabric stiffener


and wrap them tightly until the wire is
completely covered by green thread.

13. Use a tweezer to bend the petals to 14. And your mini daisy is finished
the shape that you want.

That’s it! Your mini daisy is finished. You can use it as dollhouse decoration, give as a delightful
gift or even turn them to pendant/ earrings. You can also make them bigger and attach to hair
ties/ hair clips.
