What Will You Learn From This Module?

With the invasion of the new technology in all aspects of human activities, the use of
computer and other modern gadgets has gained acceptance in maximizing its function
particularly as a tool in designing instructional materials. A need for effective technology
integration is achieved when educators create a rich learning environment where students are
introduced to new ideas, develop new skills and expand their perspectives. Informed use of
technology can help the students acquire significant knowledge and experience especially in
the COVID-19 pandemic.

This module is composed of seven activities:

ACTIVITY 1: Let Me Know More….
Surf the internet and key in the words for meaning and supplementary information. Write the
information accordingly.
1. Assistive Technology
- It is technology used by individuals with disabilities in order to perform functions that might
otherwise be difficult or impossible. Assistive technology can include mobility devices such as
walkers and wheelchairs, as well as hardware, software, and peripherals that assist people with
disabilities in accessing computers or other information technologies.

2. Slide
- A slide is a single page of a presentation. Collectively, a group of slides may be known as a
slide deck. A slide show is an exposition of a series of slides or images in an electronic device or
in a projection screen.

3. Peripheral
- A peripheral or peripheral device is an auxiliary device used to put information into and get
information out of a computer.

4. BYOD
- is gaining popularity in many schools as a way of increasing access to technology without the
cost of purchasing a device for each student. This toolkit is designed to help you evaluate the
pros, cons and logistics of bringing student-owned technology into the classroom.

5. Hyperlink
- an electronic link providing direct access from one distinctively marked place in a hypertext
or hypermedia document to another in the same or a different document

6. WIFI

- is the wireless technology used to connect computers, tablets, smartphones and other devices
to the internet. Wi-Fi is the radio signal sent from a wireless router to a nearby device, which
translates the signal into data you can see and use.
ACTIVITY 2: Slides….Show Them Now….
Prepare your own simple slide presentation. You may ask your cooperating teacher about a topic
he wants you to prepare. Then, upload your slide presentation on Facebook and ask your friends
for comments. Print your slide presentation together with the comments and paste them in the
box provided below.

ACTIVITY 3: Learning Insights
After preparing and uploading your own slide presentation, answer the following questions:
1. What values were developed as you prepare your slide presentation?
The values that were developed when I prepare my slide presentation are my
creativity, patience, and trust upon my self. That whatever the purpose is for the presentation,
it’s about your purpose or message, what you know and your delivery. Engagement of time is
included because it where your determination and dedication to achieve and finish your
desired presentation. Patience in making on point lesson that will easily catch the attention of
the students. Making it short but understandable for thge students to comprehend topics
easily. You should always bee respectful and be rational on choosing what designs you may
use considering others mood.

2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of preparing slide presentation?

The advantages of preparing slide presentation are you are able to produce better
visual effects, high efficiency in information transfer, precise and systematic knowledge
structure necessary to promote the assimilation of knowledge. During it can you can create
and showcase images you can show much more information and save more space than on
printing document. The disadvantage of preparing a slide is that it may be induced by
irrelevant information of slides, neglect of interaction with students. When preparing a slide
you have to choose the most reliable source to avoid presenting wrong information.

3. What problems did you encounter in the preparations of slide presentation? How did you
act on these problems?
Some of the problems I encountered are the outlining of the important topics,choosing
the relevant topics and slow internet connection. After those problems I still manage to
continue and finish my slide presentation by taking time on analyzing each part of the lesson.
Use only proven and correct website to get my lesson from. For the slow internet connection,
I decided to work for my slide during in the morning because that is when I can get efficient
internet connection.
ACTIVITY 4: From Book Pages to Web Pages
Think about what it would be like if the learning process used today were like from those of
the 1900’s. How would your life be different? Consider the following aspects:

1. Privacy
In the aspect of privacy, I believe that it is more safe during 1900’s. Nowadays, privacy
is crucial and at the same time helpful. Privacy enables us to have human right that
underpins our freedom of association, thought and expression as well freedom from
discrimination. We all have privacy right now but most of it is can be easily destroyed by
other people.

2. Relationship with family and friends

Relationship among our families and friends before is more intimate. Before, there is no
gadgets and less technologies that will let the people talk and mingle with other people
physically. For me that learning process before is more likely to be productive in the sense
that students have respect and focus well with less distractions. I think that life when we use
the learning process like those of 1900’s considering the aspect of relationship with family
and friends will make us more open to other people with less mental distractions, depressions
and anxiety. In that matter we are not basing on the social trends and what does society
judges and made us to believe.

3. Emergency situations
Between before and now in the aspect of emergency situations, I will go with the
present. Compared before during emergency situations have tend to be slow and needs more
time to reach out for a rescue. Unlike nowadays communication can be easily reached with
the help of the gadgets and internet. Using of gadgets nowadays can help respond and update
an emergency situations.
4. Recreations
Given today's education system, I believe there are more active performance tasks and
activities as people focus more on sports and exercise sooner. However, by 1900, having
access to the Internet would mean less recovery, as people would be more interested in using
the Internet than moving or actively acting.

5. Education
The education before is not fair but still hard to earn. It is not fair in the sense that only
gentlemen are allowed to study because of the mindset that man is more powerful than
woman. Unlike today, everyone has the right to study. The effectiveness of studying
nowadays has a lot of help specially in the aspect of technologies. The education before are
merely based on books, encyclopedias, journals unlike today education tend to more efficient
in the way that we are using technology with the help internet.
ACTIVITY 5: Are You Hooked On-line?
A. As a student, do you consider online learning as an effective delivery system tool?
Explain your answer.
As a student I consider online learning as an effective delivery system tool and at the
same I think it is suffering. It is effective in the sense that it gives you time freedom. Where
you can open study videos at your own time. No need of going to the school for attending
lectures. Lectures and handouts can be given with less hassle and can have time to read and
study notes. But also it is suffering for me because I live in a place where signal for internet
connection is unstable. I am one of the students whom wasn’t blessed with complete
technologies for online class. To sum up it all, online online learning is not effective for me,
the fact that I prefer studying with physical connection between my classmates and teachers.
And in my opinion online learning will make students rely more on the internet without
knowing if it is reliable and true.

B. Ask you cooperating teacher what web resources/ websites does he use when he is
teaching. Write examples below.
 She uses ClassIn as a mode of teaching most of the time when the students have to answer
modules online.
 For her synchronous class, she uses the Google Meet and Zoom to discuss lessons and
meet her students virtually.
 She uses power point presentation/ slides when discussing.
ACTIVITY 6: Exploring the World Wide Web
How can the internet be useful in the following aspects?

1. As a general resource?

The internet can be a good source of science news and information. Where some get most
of their news and information about science, turn to the internet for most of their science
news. Students can use the internet to search for answers, communicate, and many other
things. We might not be aware but unconsciously we are used internet in our daily life which
makes our life more easy and high tech.

2. As a direct instructions?
Internet can be useful when it comes to directing instructions specially when you have
no one to ask on a certain thing. It have help you when you need it and it may have many
basis. It is also helpful for teachers nowadays in the way that it made possible for the teachers
to disseminate instructions for the task that students intended to do. In just one click students
will be aware on the task and how to perform it.

3. As a means of communication?
The internet is regarded as a vital medium of communication in modern life since it
allows us to send and receive messages, engage with others, and display our ideas and
opinions, as well as the ideas and opinions of others. It is a way to interact. People's
interactions with various institutions and bodies. It is beneficial in the sense that it has made
communication easier and faster, as well as allowing us to communicate with individuals
regardless of time or location. It has sped up the pace of business and expanded the range of
options available to businesses. The internet has brought us closer together while also
dividing us like nothing else.
ACTIVITY 7: Keeping Safe On-line
If you think that you are safe because the one whom you are connected to cannot hit
you back…..well, THINK BIG!. because you are NOT!
1. What is RA 10175?
AN ACT DEFINING CYBERCRIME, PROVIDING FOR THE PREVENTION,
INVESTIGATION, SUPPRESSION AND THE IMPOSITION OF PENALTIES
THEREFOR AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. IT AIMS TO ADDRESS LEGAL
ISSUES CONCERNING ONLINE INTERACTIONS AND THE INTERNET IN THE
PHILIPPINES.

2. When was it enacted?

It was approved on September 12, 2012.

3. What Law Enforcement Authorities are responsible for its implementation?

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP)
are responsible for the efficient and effective law enforcement of the provisions of this
Act. The NBI and the PNP organize a cybercrime unit or center manned by special
investigators to exclusively handle cases involving violations of this Act.

4. What are the advantages and disadvantages of RA 10175?

Improved security from cyberspace to the real world . the security of the world from
rapists,pedophiles, and other kind of criminals are significantly reduced during the years
due to the fact that everything can be found as long as it is online.

5. Give some precautionary measures on how you can be safe as you go learning
online.
 Assess the safety risks of any online platforms or tools used with students
 Make policies and procedures clear and accessible to all staff.
 Talk with students, keep them updated.
 Keep parents/ guardians and community informed.

6. What offenses does RA 10175 penalize?

Illegal Access, Illegal Interception, Data Interference, System Interference, Misuse of
Devices, Cyber-squatting, Coputer-related Forgery, Computer-related Fraud, Computer-
related Identity Theft, Cybersex, Chld Pornograph, Unsolicited Commercial
Communication, and Libel.
