Description of topic
The research entitled "Improving English Speaking Skills for Class VII Students of
SMP Negeri I Blitar City Through Games (Calendar)" is a class action research,
therefore it is necessary to understand the use of terms including learning to speak
English in junior high schools focusing on improving students' competence To be able
to use the language in achieving communication goals in various contexts, both oral
and written, as for the conditions in the field, there are 4 kinds of skills that they must
master, namely: (a) speaking (speaking), (b) reading (reading), (c) ) writing (writing)
and (d) listening (listening). Speaking is an activity that combines all elements of the
abilities possessed by students both in mastering vocabulary, word order or sentences
and the ability to combine the ideas in their minds with the will or ability to express
them.

Games are one way of learning that is quite interesting for students because in the
process students are not required to accept lessons under stressful conditions.

Description of topic This study aims to determine: (1) the procedure for improving students'
reading skills by using Quantum Learning (QL); (2) students' interest in
learning to read using QL; (3) the improvement of students in
understanding the text using QL. This study involved 32 students of class
VII C SMPN 1 Seyegan. NS researchers used pre-test and post-test to
analyze students' improvement.
