Activity 1:
Guess the Word
Directions: Arrange the jumbled letters to form words that are used variedly in
different disciplines. Identify the words being described/defined by rearranging the scrambled letters.

1. YSTSME - SYSTEM
❖ A set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network.
❖ A set of rules, an arrangement of things, or a group of related things that work toward a
common goal.
❖ In astronomy, this refers to a group of celestial objects connected by their mutual
attractive forces, especially moving in orbits about a center.

2. ARTTCSBA -ABSTRACT

❖ Existing in thought or as an idea but not having physical or concrete existence.


❖ A brief summary of a research article, thesis, review, conference proceeding.
❖ This is a self-contained, short, and powerful statement that describes a larger work.

3. LILB - BILL
❖ An amount of money owed for goods supplied or services rendered, set out in a printed or
written statement of charges.
❖ A proposed legislation under consideration by a legislature
❖ A draft of proposed law presented to parliament for discussion.

4. UDORPTC -PRODUCT

❖ In mathematics, this is result of multiplying, or an expression that identifies factors to be

❖ In marketing, this is an object or system made available for consumer use.


❖ In chemistry, this is a substance that is formed as the result of a chemical reaction.

5. ECROF - FORCE
❖ In Physics, this is any interaction that, when unopposed, will change the motion of an object.
❖ An organized body of military personnel or police.
❖ Strength or energy as an attribute of physical action or movement.
ACTIVITY 2:
They Mean It!
Provide at least two meanings for the following terms as used in various discipline. 5
points each

1. Assessment
- A series of mental and physical fitness tests.

- In other discipline refers to the process of evaluating the


learners for the attainment of national certificate especially to
the skilled strand such as SMAW, COOKERY, EIM,
AUTOMOTIVE SERVICING.

1. Treatment
• It is a medical treatment session for individuals who are in pain or who have a
sickness.
• In another discipline, treatment is a manner on how individuals act and interacts
with someone or something such as how they behave towards someone like if they
treat another individual good or bad.
2. Measurement
• It is a way of determining the size, length and weight or capacity of an object by
using numbers. It is commonly used in rulers for measuring height.
• It is also the estimation of ratios, determining how long or how far an object can
do for example measuring/testing the progress of our country, or someone’s
ability.
3. Position
• It is the specific location of an object or where it is exactly placed or a
particular where an object is placed.
• In another discipline position is a rank of a person who works at a company that
can affect his/her power to act such as Manager, CEO, Assistant Manager etc.
4. Proposal
• It is formal written offer that is used in business terms to propose an idea or
plan and sent to an authority to decide upon.
• In marriage terms like wedding proposal, it is the act where one person usually
the guy in the relationship asks the hand of his woman for marriage.

What I Have Learned
Now, let us sum up what you have learned from our lesson by completing the given
phrases below. This is good for 20 points.

Is a broad category of human-structured communication that consists of words that
can be expressed by speech, gestures, sign language, or writing. In our daily discussions it plays a
major role. and it is how people express themselves or demonstrate something for others to
comprehend

2. Academic text is…

Is a term used in formal writing by professionals or specialists in a certain field. It is


characterized as critical, objective, and specialized texts based on well-founded facts. An academic
text takes more than a year to produce due to massive language learning.

3. Language in different discipline means…

Speaking your discipline’s language entails employing terminology or Tier 3 words that are
exclusively applicable in that content area. Within the many areas, these phrases are crucial for gaining
information and conceptual comprehension.
