    CURA PERSONALIS AND TANTUM QUANTUM

    Scenario: divide the board into 2 (one side for cura one side for tantum)
    Speakers: Alex, Mai
    Drug pushers: sapio, jonas, megan, sugar
    Scene 1:
    Mai: Tantum Quantum, tantum quantum. What does this mean? Is this even English?
    Alex: No, that is actually latin. It means in so far as.
    Mai: that doesn’t even make sense.
    Alex: well, from St ignatius’ principle and foundation of the spiritual exercises, it refers to the
    right use of creatures. We are to use them in so far as they lead us to our last end, and be rid of
    them in so far as they hinder us in the pursuit of the end for which we are created.
    Mai: oh, I understand, so it means that we can only use creatures as long as it serves our good
    purpose and we need to let them go if they hinder our goals for which we are created.
    Alex: Exactly! Let us look at this scenario:
    *sapio jonas megan sugar enters* mag discuss mog drugs kamo na bahala unsay iingon. Pag

    Mai: wait, that’s not right! They’re doing drugs. I don’t think that’s appropriate. They are only
    using drugs for their own satisfaction.
    Alex: You’re right. This is what tantum quantum looks like.

    Mai: Now that makes sense. They are using the drug for a purpose.
    Alex: That’s right mai, now let’s go to the cura personalis.
    Mai: I know this one. It means care for the whole person.
    Alex: that’s right! It means respecting all that makes up each individual. This tells us that our
    talents, abilities, physical attributes, personalities, desires, hearts, faith, and minds are all
    equally worthy of care and attention.
    Mai: Ohh. Does cura personalis look like this?

    Alex: Yes, exactly. Our school’s Ligsok Night School program is a good example for cura
    personalis, for they show respect and care for those street kids by teaching them and giving
    them a chance to experience how it feels to be a student. The school also provides them with
    free uniform and id, and even gives them food.
    Mai: Wow, that’s really nice. I understand now. Thank you Alex! Now I know what Tantum
    quantum and Cura personalis means.
    Alex: No problem! Again, tantum quantum means:
    Megan, sugar, jonas, sapix: In so far as!
    Mai: and cura personalis means:
    Xavier, bing, geegoy, keilly: care for the whole person.
