General Guidelines
1. A Cover page or title page – You should always attach a title page to your assignment. Use previous
page as your cover sheet and be sure to fill the details correctly.
2. This entire brief should be attached in first before you start answering.
3. All the assignments should prepare using word processing software.
4. All the assignments should print in A4 sized paper, and make sure to only use one side printing.
5. Allow 1” margin on each side of the paper. But on the left side you will need to leave room for
binging.
1. Use a font type that will make easy for your examiner to read. The font size should be 12 point, and
should be in the style of Time New Roman.
2. Use 1.5 line word-processing. Left justify all paragraphs.
3. Ensure that all headings are consistent in terms of size and font style.
4. Use footer function on the word processor to insert Your Name, Subject, Assignment No, and
Page Number on each page. This is useful if individual sheets become detached for any reason.
5. Use word processing application spell check and grammar check function to help edit your
assignment.
Important Points:
1. Check carefully the hand in date and the instructions given with the assignment. Late submissions
will not be accepted.
2. Ensure that you give yourself enough time to complete the assignment by the due date.
3. Don’t leave things such as printing to the last minute – excuses of this nature will not be accepted
for failure to hand in the work on time.
4. You must take responsibility for managing your own time effectively.
5. If you are unable to hand in your assignment on time and have valid reasons such as illness, you
may apply (in writing) for an extension.
6. Failure to achieve at least a PASS grade will result in a REFERRAL grade being given.
7. Non-submission of work without valid reasons will lead to an automatic REFERRAL. You will then
be asked to complete an alternative assignment.
8. Take great care that if you use other people’s work or ideas in your assignment, you properly
reference them, using the HARVARD referencing system, in you text and any bibliography,
otherwise you may be guilty of plagiarism.
9. If you are caught plagiarising you could have your grade reduced to A REFERRAL or at worst you
could be excluded from the course.
Student Declaration
I hereby, declare that I know what plagiarism entails, namely to use another’s work and to present it as
my own without attributing the sources in the correct way. I further understand what it means to copy
another’s work.

Abstract
Artificial intelligence, sometimes called machine intelligence, is represented by machines in
contrast to natural intelligence displayed by humans and other animals. In computer science, AI
research is defined as the study of "intelligent agents": any device that understands its environment
and takes actions that maximize its chances of success. Artificial intelligence usually covers
computer systems that can perform tasks that require human intelligence. These tasks may include
visual perception, speech recognition, decision making, language translation, and more.AI affects
every aspect of society and has the potential to be fully integrated with daily work and social life in
the near future. The purpose of this research is to use the chatbot in Sri Lanka for mobile phone
users to learn English. This program is conducted by the ESOFT Metro Campus HND in Kalutara.

H2- Chatbots are not very effective when learning English.
Instruction
Chatbot is an artificial intelligence software that can mimic a conversation with a user in natural language
via messaging apps, websites, mobile apps or the phone. Chatbot is often described as the most advanced
and promising expression of interactions between people and machines. However, from a technical
standpoint, a chatbot represents only the natural evolution of a question-and-answer system that
stimulates natural language processing. Responding to questions in natural language is one of the most
common examples of natural language processing used by end-users in various enterprises. Chatbot apps
improve the customer experience by streamlining interactions between people and services. At the same
time, they provide new opportunities for companies to improve customer engagement processes and
operational efficiency by reducing the average cost of customer service. In order to be successful, a
chatbot solution must be able to perform both of these tasks effectively. Human support plays a major role
in this. Human intervention is critical to configuring, training and optimizing the chatbot system. There
are various approaches and tools we can use to develop chatbots. Depending on the usage case we want to
address, some chatbot technologies may be better suited than others. A combination of various AI models,
such as natural language processing, machine learning, and semantic comprehension, may be the best
option to achieve the desired results.
Chatbots can be categorized using different criteria. In practice, this means that the user selects the next
step in a dialog from a list of options or types in a custom footer. Some chatbot platforms offer predefined
templates, which allow us to configure a chatbot for a specific use case with just a few clicks.
Chatbot learning is more complex. With the help of AI and NLP, they are based on machine learning and
artificial intelligence. They can understand the free form text input and react to it accordingly. They can
collect data from previous conversations and develop them for future work. Simply put - they learn and
become more talented. This technology is still fairly fresh, but it is definitely the direction that Chatbot
will evolve into in the future.
In this article, we document the experience of using a well-known educational tool, Alice and the Chatbot,
a chatbot programming platform, in an online competition and in classroom environments. The goal of
creating the tool was to increase student retention and involvement, especially in girls. Teaching basic CS
concepts is a way of promoting interest in CS related careers and contributing to an increasingly important
discussion of what CS concepts should be taught. School and how to reach them. For example, working
with Alice may be more structured, requiring each student to focus on building a particular game rather
than choosing their favorite, and following a specific schedule each week. The aspect of the game has
been solved and students are given feedback on the quality of what they do. The final problem is that their
programming support and feedback can be done in class, and an online competition requires a huge
amount of resources to provide the same level of support and feedback. The difference in engagement
may be because the programming concepts of coverage are not exactly the same. For example, Alice has
data types, methods and parameters, which are the key to CS and are difficult to understand. If the chatbot
is somehow "incomplete" and can be attributed to the difference in engagement, then a teaching strategy
for girls can only be described as "imperfect" tools that start with the most earnest and move them to a
"need for further learning". In spite of the scholarly interest in researching the importance of separate
variables, their combined value is ours the highlights and future agenda include a deeper exploration of
the essential approaches to how to engage and engage students in CS.[ CITATION For18 \l 1033 ]

& Data Analysis
Outer layer-Positivism
Positivism generates testable assumptions and allows measurable explanations against accepted
knowledge of the world in which we live. The role of the researcher in positive studies is objectively
limited to data collection and interpretation. The research findings of these types of studies are generally
observable and quantitative.
2 layer -Deductive
Reduction means you start with a statement or question and your research will answer it. Answers to
questions or a speculation about the topic the researcher believes. The process of reductionist thinking
goes from theory to research question, data collection, discovery research question or confirmation.
3 layer -survey
Research onion research strategies are often associated with a reductionist approach. It is an excellent and
economical research strategy. It allows researchers to gather big data to answer who, what, where, when
and how.
4 layer -Monomethod
In mono-system, only one type of qualitative and quantitative information is collected. It may have to do
with the demands of the show. It can also demand philosophical choices and strategies used. We can also
use this method to research the opposite view of the mono-system.
5 layer-cross sectionals
We can use qualitative and quantitative research in the cross-sectional method. It helps us monitor the
behavior of a group or group of people. We can use the same method to study a person at one time.

Conlution
Chatbot is an artificial intelligence program that simulates interactive human conversation using
previously calculated user phrases and audio or text-based compilations. Chatbots are frequently used for
basic customer service and marketing systems that are social network hubs and instant messaging clients.
Often included as intelligent virtual assistants in operating systems. The main purpose of the research
project is to explore the benefit of chatbots users.
