Carmina Burana (Dance Review)

The video is all about the performance of ballet Philippines of Carmina Burana by Carl

Orffs. Carmina Burana (Songs of Beuren), a ballet based on a collection of Goliard poems

discovered in a Bavarian monastery in the early 13 th century. This Graceful Dance

performance was being choreographed by the company’s Artistic Director and National

Artist for Dance Alice Reyes that brings together icons of performance arts on the stage

of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The presentation starts with a silent sounds and as the music starts the dancers starts

the movements with lots of succession. The dancers also considers the proper formation

with elegance and grace. The dance also highlights and promotes the power, passion

and emotion of Carl Orff’s magnum opus.

With their breath taking I observed that their more likely to do succession movements that

are very emphasized with energy and perform gracefully. In addition, The ABS CBN

Philharmonic Orchestra accompanies the piece with a hauntingly beautiful rendition of

Carl Orff’s masterpiece under the baton of maestro Gerard Salonga. All in all the

performance was great and the production did a great job.
