Strengths
Leadership
My experience with organizing and leading events, overseeing the driver education program for the City of Marshall, supervising staff,
working with community members and other local organizations, and involvement with grants has given me invaluable experience
and has helped me develop my leadership skills.

Organizational Management
Organizational Management is an area in which I have gained experience in a number of ways. I have been able to develop and
implement programs in which I needed to manage, set procedures for, collect input and data from stakeholders, and empower
others.

Diversity Leadership
Diversity Leadership is an area of strength due to my experience in the development of Marshall's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Commission and in establishing the Cultures on the Prairie annual conference.

Communication
I feel as though communication is an area in which I am stronger in. My experiences both in my coursework and professionally, have
pushed me to enhance my communication skills to reach all audiences in the community.

Community Relations
My experience in working with the community on multiple projects and events has enhanced my skills and knowledge of how to
effectively build strong partnerships and relationships to meet the needs of our community.

In my professional experiences as a K-12 art instructor and through community education, I have developed curriculum to meet the
needs of all students in my classrooms and programs.

Instructional Management for the Success of All Learners
I have gained experience in this area through participating on a technology integration team, developing curriculum and
accommodations to meet the needs of diverse learners, and assessing programs to ensure all students were receiving high-quality
programming.

Human Resource Management


Throughout my work history, I have had experience in recruiting, hiring, and supervising staff. These experiences have included after
school programming, driver education, community education, municipal band, and event staff.

Values and Ethics


I feel as though this is an area of strength for me because in my experiences I have always felt strongly about having values and
ethics that put the best interest of others first. I believe in order to be an effective leader you must model positive values and ethics
and that is something I strive to do each and every day.
Areas of Growth Educational Leadership

Policy and Law


Policy and Law is an area in which I have minimal experience. However, throughout my coursework, I have gained a deeper
understanding and will continue to develop my knowledge in this area.

Political Influence and Governance


I have gained experience through reviewing school board meetings, studying community relations, and working through Driver
Education negotiations. These experiences provided me with a deeper understanding, however, this continues to be an area of
growth for me.

Judgement and Problem Analysis


I feel as though I am strong in my judgement and problem solving abilities, but in a leadership role, this experience is limited. I know I
will continue to be faced with times in which I will need to make decisions and solve problems, and I look forward to those
opportunities as they will continue to help me grow and develop as a leader.

Safety and Security


Over the past year, I have increased my knowledge of safety and security procedures as they relate to COVID-19, however, I have
limited experience in other aspects of safety and security. This is an area in which I will need to continue my training.

Community Education Concepts
Through my experiences as a Community Education Coordinator and throughout my practicum, I have been able to provide a large
variety of community education programs that meet the needs of our community. I have implemented an after school enrichment
program, community events, community education classes for all ages including professional development opportunities,
educational classes, introductions to new interests or hobbies, arts, crafts, health and fitness, and more.

Community Capital
I have experience in presenting to a community education advisory council, involving advisory council members in community
programs, and asking for feedback from the advisory council members to better meet the needs of our community. I participate on a
variety of community groups who I have been able to partner with in order to provide high-quality programming and experiences to
community members.

Professional
Development Plan
Professional development is an ongoing process in which I
plan to continue throughout the course of my career as a
way to grow and stay up to date in all areas of leadership and
community education. As part of this process, I will continue
to look for opportunities to increase my knowledge in all
aspects of community education and educational
leadership. This will be through courses, workshops,
conferences, looking to mentors in the field, and
participating in leadership teams. As a life long learner, it is
my responsibility to continue my educational journey
throughout my career to help me continue my growth and
development as an educational leader.
Reflection
Through my coursework and experiences in the
Educational Leadership program, my practicum,
and in my career, I have developed my leadership
skills. Because of these experiences, I feel as
though I have built a strong foundation to take on a
career as an educational leader in community
education.

Even though this stage of my life is coming to a


close, I know this is just the beginning of my journey
as it relates to becoming an effective educational
leader. I look forward to this next chapter in which I
can pursue a career as a Community Education
Director to better serve the school and community
by providing educational opportunities and
supporting all life long learners.
