methods and the findings of the research. It relates both to the scientific integrity of conducted
research and to the professional integrity of researchers.

2. How will you apply research integrity in your up coming research activity in form of
feasibility study for this subject?
When we conduct a feasibility study we can applied research integrity through
performing research and use appropriate methods, Transparency and open communication
including sharing negative results as appropriate, which through this we allow others to have
trust and confidence to the methods and results of our research. In conducting feasibility study

Research ethics addresses the application of ethical principles or values to various
issues and fields of research, including, ethical aspects of the design and conduct of research,
the way human participants or animals within research projects are treated, whether research
results may be misused for criminal purposes, and aspects of scientific misconduct.
4. how can an individual obtain a violation on research ethics? Cite at least 3 examples.
Conflicts of interest This happens when researchers have interests that are not fully
apparent and that may influence their judgments on what is published. These conflicts include
personal, commercial, political, academic or financial interest.
Redundant publication and plagiarism Redundant publication occurs when two or more papers,
without full cross reference, share the same hypothesis, data, discussion points, or conclusions.
However, previous publication of an abstract during the proceedings of meetings does not
preclude subsequent submission for publication, but full disclosure should be made at the time
of submission. On the other hand, plagiarism ranges from unreferenced use of others’ published
and unpublished ideas, including research grant applications to submission under “new”
authorship of a complete paper, sometimes in different language.
Data analysis It is the responsibility of the researcher to analyse the data appropriately.
Although inappropriate analysis does not necessarily amount to misconduct, intentional
omission of result may cause misinterpretation and mislead the readers. Fabrication and
falsification of data do constitute misconduct

Worksheet No. 3
1. How is research being classified? Give example for each classification.
Research can be classified by According to Purpose, For example, applied research tests
the principle of reinforcement to determine their effectiveness in improving) and behavior.
According to Methods, For example, a study that documents the evolution of teacher training
programs since the turn of the century, with the aim of explaining the historical origins of the
content and processes of current programs, and According to paradigm or According to Data,
for example The researcher goes to the experts of the phenomena under study the people who
are experiencing it. Observation, interviews, focus groups, documentary analysis, and case
studies are all examples of qualitative research techniques.

2. Differentiate quantitative and qualitative data? How are these data being gathered?
Qualitative data is non-statistical and is typically unstructured or semi-structured. This data isn’t
necessarily measured using hard numbers used to develop graphs and charts. Instead, it is categorized
based on properties, attributes, labels, and other identifiers. Qualitative data can be used to ask the
question “why.” It is investigative and is often open-ended until further research is conducted.
Generating this data from qualitative research is used for theorizations, interpretations, developing
hypotheses, and initial understandings.
Contrary to qualitative data, quantitative data is statistical and is typically structured in nature meaning
it is more rigid and defined. This data type is measured using numbers and values, making it a more
suitable candidate for data analysis. Whereas qualitative is open for exploration, quantitative data is
much more concise and close-ended. It can be used to ask the questions “how much” or “how many,”
followed by conclusive information.

3. Differentiate primary data from secondary data.

Primary data is the kind of data that is collected directly from the data source without
going through any existing sources. It is mostly collected specially for a research project and
may be shared publicly to be used for other research. Primary data is often reliable, authentic,
and objective in as much as it was collected with the purpose of addressing a particular
research problem. It is noteworthy that primary data is not commonly collected because of the
high cost of implementation. While, Secondary data is the data that has been collected in the
past by someone else but made available for others to use. They are usually once primary data
but become secondary when used by a third party. Secondary data are usually easily accessible
to researchers and individuals because they are mostly shared publicly.

4. How to gather primary data?

Primary data can be gathered direct/indirect personal interview, through
questionnaires ,

5. How to gather secondary data?
