Safety Warning The adaptor and termination are not screened.
When the circuit is energised the surface of the insulation will be live and should
not be touched. It is essential to observe the usual safety regulations for working
with high voltage equipment. For precise safety information please contact the
responsible authority.

Minimum air clearance between adaptors: 25 mm.

Bushing Profile The adaptor should only be used on bushings with dimensions as shown in
Drawing A1 or A2.

General Instructions Use cable lugs with holes large enough to fit over the stud. Remove any oxide
layer from the palm of an aluminium lug. Remove any sharp edges from the lug
after installation on the cable.
Use a suitable contact compound with aluminium lugs or use tinned Al or
bi-metallic lugs. Allow the termination to cool before installing the adaptor.
Installation of Termination Install the termination in accordance with the appropriate Raychem Installation
Instruction. The sheds provided in the Termination Kit are not required when
used with RICS. Use cable lugs with a maximum length of 105 mm from the
palm hole centre up to the end as shown in Drawing B. The completed
termination includes a seal onto the cable lug which should extend to not less
than 50 mm from the palm hole centre.
If the Adaptor kit includes a shim tube, shrink this onto the completed termina-
tion as shown in Drawing B.
