H4122 - Iridium SSAS Box

Subject:

Re-programming of configuration parameters.

Identification:

In the event of having to change the configuring parameters stored in the Iridium SSAS
Box, e.g. for a vessel flag change, the typical method to apply will be that of performing an
initial factory reset prior to programming the new configuration parameters (refer to
“Troubleshooting” section page 15 in the H4122 Operation/Installation Manual for Factory
Reset procedure).
Having performed such factory reset some of the data fields, e.g. the <message>, <alarm
email 1 & 2>, <test email 1 & 2> or <ITS email> may or may not be automatically filled with
the symbol <ÿ>.
If, in the further re-programming process simply erasing this symbol from the data field by
backspacing or overwriting the symbols, there is a small risc that the new entered data are
not stored properly in the SSAS unit memory, subsequently resulting in a test and/or alert
message not being delivered correctly or a test and/or alert message not included correctly
in the applicable transmissions.
To avoid this happening the initial factory reset procedure should be followed by once
again cycling the power to the SSAS Box, whereby ensuring that the SSAS unit memory is
set to factory default status.
In applying this procedure the subsequent programming of configuration parameters will
be stored correctly in the SSAS unit memory.
