Cable Connection / termination

 DC Cable
 14-6AWG (Copper only) when terminating to the fuse holders- Can use I without the
ferrules.
 6~2AWG (Copper or Aluminum) when using the Bypass Terminal kit accessory
 AC Cable
 AC Output terminal block #6-3/0 AWG (CU) #6-3/0 AWG (AL)
 Internal grounding bar #6-4 AWG (CU)
 External grounding point - #6-4 AWG (CU)
Cable Connection / termination
 PV string checking procedure
 Open fuse holder before connecting PV cable
 Check polarity and voltage of each string should not exceed 1000V as it can cause
damage to power train in power head.
 Distribute the cables evenly on all the three MPPTs.
 When installing replacement 25A or 30A fuses, these fuses may not be installed in
adjacent fuse holders. An empty or unused fuse holder must be positioned
between each 25A/30A fuse within each MPPT
 Use of fuses from other manufacturers or incorrectly sized fuses can cause either
equipment damage or create an unsafe working condition. Any damage resulting
from use of incompatible fuses is not covered by the CPS warranty

Installation/
replacement of 50/60
kw inverter
 Distance between inverters is to
keep hot exhaust air from one
inverter away from intake of
other inverter.
 The spacing between the
inverters may be increased based
on the location and ambient
temperature areas >45-degree
Celsius.
 Keep the LCD and Keypad at
accessible height taking
consideration for known flooding
and snowing areas.
Unnecessary Stress
on Inverter

 Avoid direct exposure to sun light

 Internal ambient temperature
could rise 15 degree C more than
normal
 Output power is reduced because
high internal temperature
 CPS provides shade cover for
inverter
Don’t Make A Mistake Worse

 DC switch only disconnects PV circuit to inverter

electronic compartment
 DC switch does not de-energize PV circuit with
reverse polarity or short problem
 Check current in DC circuit on PV side of fuse before
open fuse holder
 Do not open fuse holder when there is current.
Disconnect at PV home run if PV string circuit must be
disrupted. Don’t Rush to Open
Fuse Holder to Stop
the DC Short !!
Waterproofing

 Use conduit with water proofing

gasket
 Tighten plastic plug on all unused
opening, especially side openings.
WATER: Keeping Inverter Properly Sealed

 Don’t leave Inverter

out in the cold without
power for extended
period
 Freezing moisture
inside inverter may
condense on heatsink
 Call us for inspection
inside inverter power
If inverter was nonoperational for head before applying
90 days. Call CPS Hotline before
startup for inspection. Damages
DC or AC power
due to this negligence is not
covered under warranty.
Trouble Shooting: GridV.Outlim/Protect0150
 Check
 Voltage reading on AC information screen
 Type: Line – Neutral or Line – Line; Is it matching actual connection?
 Reading value:
 Within limit per standard: at no load, at full load
 Difference between phases less than 10%
 Compare with voltage reading with meter at AC terminal
 Action
 Check circuit breaker rating. Replace circuit breaker if it trips often.
 Change transformer tap if Grid voltage is near high limit of trip standard.
 Adjust Grid voltage trip points if having agreement from customers/utility
 Adjust inverter imbalance tolerance to max of 10%
Trouble Shooting: Isolation Error

 Resistance from PV terminals to earth ground lower than threshold. This is

safety check during inverter startup process
 Possible causes:
 Fault inside inverter causing PV shorted to chassis
 Nicks or cuts on PV cable causing short or low resistance to conduit/earth ground
 Moisture on PV panel causing low impedance to frame. In this case, inverter
sometimes delays startup until later in the day
Trouble Shooting: Isolation Error

DC switch ON: Check voltage

down problem in inverter problem with PV wiring
Trouble Shooting: Protect0070

 Positive and Negative internal bus is out of balance

 Possible cause
 High percentage of imbalance between phases of Grid voltages
 Possible solution
 Increase IDCmax to 1.5% of rated AC current to allow inverter more range to make
correct to internal bus to compensate for Grid voltage differences.
Trouble Shooting: Protect0100

 Ground leakage current too high

 Possible cause:
 Moisture on panel results in increase of parasitic capacitance from PV to frame
therefore increase leakage current to Earth Ground
 Possible solution:
 Increase leakage current threshold to 300mA (max value)
Communication: What to Check First
 Communication checklist:
 Set unique address for each inverter on Modbus network
 Replacement inverter needs to have Modbus ID set to correct ID
 Baud rate check
 Wiring polarity: 485+ and 485-
Typical Also Energy Modbus board

GND: to B+ : to A- : to SHIELD: to
RS485_GND RS485_A+ RS485_B- chassis of
of inverter of inverter of inverter Inverter
Communication: 2 Wires or 3 Wires

 Recommend 3 wires: 485+, 485-, and Common

 Reduce common mode voltage transient between inverters especially with long
distance between inverter
Periodic Maintenance
for String Inverter

 Limited, light service

expectation:
 Terminal wiring torque
 Clear debris and dirt from fan
guards
 A clean fan has expected lifespan
of at least 5 years
But not this one
Procedure for firmware upgrade of 50/60 kw
inverter (latest version 11.0 and 9.0)

 Procedure to update firmware for 50/60

kw inverter
 Prepare a USB flash drive (Capacity less
than 8G) and format the drive to FAT32
 Copy the LCD firmware file and the DSP
firmware file into the USB flash drive.
 Insert the USB flash drive into USB port on
the inverter’s communications board.
 Using the password to enter the Setting
menu and select Firmware Update.
Choose the firmware to be updated (DSP
first and then LCD ) and follow the
prompts on the screen
 When the update is successful repeat the
process, if necessary, to update the next
firmware (DSP or LCD). Should the update
fail, return to step 4 when prompted and
repeat the process
Warnings for 50/60 KW inverter

DC SPD Fault Check the DC SPD Located at lower

bottom corner of the wire box.
Switch off the inverter and make sure the DC fuses are
in open conditions
Check the DC SPD indicators are in green state. If the
SPD are showing red indication, they need replacement
Re insert the DC SPD one by one and check the pin if
they are damaged or bend.
Ifthe problem still persist, contact CPS Service tech
support line.
