Battle of harfleur – Scenario Notes
• Harfleur is under siege by French forces. Relief by sea is prevented by a fleet of
Genoese ships in the hire of the French. The aim of the English fleet is to
defeat the Genoese fleet and to force a convoy of transports into Harfleur
• The battle is fought on a 4’ by 3’ table using the small action rules
• The english fleet enters from the Western edge. The Genoese fleet sets up
within 2’ of the Eastern edge
• To win the English must destroy or capture at least 3 carracks and sail at
least three transports into Harfleur. The Genoese win if the English victory
conditions are not achieved.
• English transports do not have boarding or missile ratings..
• The Genoese carracks are larger than the standard type in the rules. treat as
Large cogs with turning ability 60o and boarding factor 5
• Missile factors of English ships are increased by 1.
• The battle is fought in the seine estuary, an area of shifting sand bars. At the
start of the game 1d6 sand bars, each approximately 3” by 2” are placed on the
table by the Genoese player. None may be placed within 2” of another sand bar
or the coastlines. The English player may then relocate up to 2 sandbars, with
the same placement limitations in force
