There is too much pressure on young people today

Pressure on young people has been a thing for a long time. It didn‘t start yesterday or a few years
ago. It has been an all-time thing, because we always compared younger generation to the older
ones. And I think that is one of the biggest drawbacks of our society, because these days our
world evolves so fast that it’s even wrong to compare these days adolescents even to people who
were teens like 20 years ago, because so many things have changed.
Some people call these days teenagers infantile, foolish and vulnerable. But today teens are
under enormous pressure and have many challenges to:
 stress at school (like lots of homework, not getting enough sleep, pressure to have good
grades, bulling),
 social media (which causes body image issues, pressure to always look happy and
successful and sometimes even doubts about self-value),
 family problems,
 pressure to do everything older people say (I think when you are rally young, you don’t
have a ,,spine” and your own strong opinion or maybe tou have an opinion, bet you don’t
have a voice, because you’re younger, so you are forced to meet older people
expectations)
 pressure to choose our carrier path when we are really young, like 16 or even younger
and so much more.
And these challenges are really effecting youth mental health. Studies have shown that about 50
percent or even more teens these days have some sort of mental issues and can be a significant
problem and one of the main reasons why the number of suicides among teenagers is so high
these days.
I think the most obvious reason for pressure on young teens is fear, fear for change and fear for
the future, because adults know that their future and the conditions in which they will live when
they will be old depends on young people and adults just don’t trust them, because they think
that young people are unexperienced people. And I think it’s normal to be scared for the future,
but if they want to change something, they can do it themselves and they don’t have to pressure
adolescents to deal with the problems of the older generation, because young generations also
have their own problems to deal with.
I think elderly and adults need to stop pressuring these days teenagers, not set in their ways and
try to adapt their believes to this world and try to trust, understand and support the youth. Even if
we live now in the best of times, I think, we still have so many things to improve and change to
make a world a safe and supportive place to live and develop healthy and self-reliant young
adults, because at the end they are the future.
