AEC(UK)BIM Protocols: Revit
best practice, standards and workflows
for a company using Revit to adopt BIM
History of the AEC(UK) Committee

• Originally formed to generate a set of CAD

standards and layer names
• Members represent companies using the
software daily and needing standards and
protocols to ease the pain
• All materials are offered free to the industry
to be used as people see fit
AEC(UK) Mission Statement

• We do not compete with BS or other official

standards
• We interpret official standards, add material
where gaps are identified and suggest new
protocols where official standards do not suit
the technology or current best practice
• We can publish fast and stay at the cutting
edge
AEC(UK) BIM Standards

• A group of Revit veterans joined forces with

the AEC(UK) group
• Representing all disciplines
• Developed in answer to an urgent need to
interpret existing standards for the new
