1 KIBES update for ZR2-B and ZR2-BD version 3.0
1.1 Introduction
The Central Computer 2 (subsequently called ZR2) version 3.0 will replace the today’s
version of ZR2-B/BD in week 17 and is 100% compatible concerning previous hardware
versions. Using a new processor, it was necessary to change the belonging drivers
within the compiled application program.
A converter program was developed to download existing projects without new

compilation. The converter program is part of this KIBES-SW-Update (menu “Upgrade
PLC PRG”).
If existing projects will be configured and compiled again, the program will be
automatically attached with the new drivers.
The following information applies to KIBES-2 software as Full Version as well as to

the Runtime Version.

1.2 Installation of the Update Software package

Insert the attached CD-ROM and start “Windows Explorer”.
There are two ways to install the KIBES-SW-Update package:
Variant a) : Replacement of the already installed software only
Variant b) : Installation into a new directory and copying existing projects
Variant a) You can update your existing KIBES-Software just by installation

of the postprocessor.
Advantage: It’s not required to copy all existing projects and macros
into a new folder.
Way: Note the path of your existing KIBES-Software. Start the file Install.bat from
CD-ROM with parameter ENG at the path CD_03\Pp_03_XX by double
click of left mouse button.

Select the proper directory using the pathname of the previous installation
of your KIBES-Software.

The installation of the update software is now finished.
Variant b) You install the KIBES-SW-Update into a new directory using a new
pathname. Afterwards you copy the projects and self made macros as
described in chapter 1.7.
Advantage: You use the update to do safety copies from your existing projects.
Way: Select the CD drive. Install at first the “basic package” in a new directory.
Therefore start the file “Install.bat” at the path CD_03_XX\Gr with double
click of the left mouse button.

Follow the instructions to select a drive. Afterwards select a pathname which

will be used for the new installation (this shall not be the path of your existing
KIBES-SW). For more details of installation look into the general KIBES
documentation.

After the “basic package” is installed, you have to install the postprocessor
using the same installation procedure as described at variant a).
The pathname of the new installation directory shall be used.
1.3 Converting of existing projects

The new KIBES-SW-Update must be installed. Via the path MAIN MENU ⇒
POSTPROCESSORS ⇒ COMMUNICATION you enter the menu UPGRADE PLC PRG
to display a list of all projects (see figure 6). If you have chosen variant b) for program
installation, you will see only the copied or new created projects.
Select the project you like to convert using the left mouse button. The converter task
starts and the project is prepared for download to all ZR2-B/BD versions.

1.4 Modification of existing projects
The command Upgrade PLC PRG will not operate, if you already did modifications at the
project after installation of the Software Update. In that case you have to proceed like
following:
With path MAIN MENU ⇒ POSTPROCESSORS ⇒ CONFIG. EDIT you select the
configuration menu. If there is a project default, you get the list of all projects pressing
“space” and “enter”.

Selecting one project, you will enter the menu SELCT DEVICES (figure 8).

Press “F4” and accept by click with the left mouse button to save the configuration again.
Finally you compile the project selecting CODEGEN-COMPILE (figure 9)

The project is now usable for all ZR2-B or ZR2-BD versions. There is no more additional
UPGRADE PLC PRG necessary.
1.5 Error massages
a) Program was generated with an old KIBES version:
You will get this error massage on download of the PLC program to ZR2 version 3.0:

Reason: You tried to download an existing project, which was not converted for a
ZR2 version 3.0.
Solution: Convert the program before loading (see chapter 1.3).

b) Wrong CAN-Driver within a basic program:
You will get this error massages at compilation of a PLC project:

Reason: The configuration of an existing project wasn’t updated.
Solution: Save the configuration before you compile the project

using CONFIG. EDIT (see chapter 1.4).
c) Project already converted
It isn’t possible to convert a project using Upgrade PLC PRG:

Reason: The existing project was already convert.
Solution: No action required. You can download the project on all ZR2-B/BD
versions

d) Basic program package not compatible with operating system
You will get this error massages after downloading the PLC program to an ZR2
version 3.0:

Reason: You use an incompatible previous software to communicate with a new

ZR2 version 3.0.
Solution: Install and use this KIBES-SW-Update.
1.6 Information about central computer version

There are two possibilities to detect the version of the central computer:
a) Read the version identification at the ZR2-B or ZR2-BD device label.

b) System version as part of the KIBES program

Start KIBES and enter POSTPROCESSORS ⇒ COMMUNICATION ⇒ INFO to get
CENTRAL COMPUTER 2 – INFORMATION. At operating system (see figure 15) you
will see the name of the operating system from the ZR2-B or ZR2-BD.

ZR2__002: ZR2-B until version 2.0
ZR2__003: ZR2-BD until version 1.1
ZR2__102: ZR2-B version 3.0
ZR2__103: ZR2-BD version 3.0

1.7 Copy from existing projects into folder of new installed KIBES-SW Update
If you installed the KIBES-SW-Update at a new name (like described at chapter 1.2 b),
you can to copy existing projects and self made macros like following:
Open “Windows Explorer” and select the KIBES-folder with the existing projects (e.g.
“Ki_03_99“). Copy all files from the PST subdirectory using the known project name (e.g.
“Redes103”) into the subdirectory PST of the new installed KIBES-application (e.g. to
“Ki-Redes”).

Finally you have to copy the project data with the extension .gps (e.g. "Redes103.gps“)
from the GPS subdirectory of the existing KIBES application into the GPS subdirectory
of the new KIBES-SW-Update.

Any self made macros shall be copied from the folder LCM\GER and LCM\ENG of the
existing KIBES-Software into the appropriate folder of the KIBES-SW-Update.
