Find out the “Adverbs” from the following paragraph and write down their types.    

The man quickly got in the car.  He peacefully drove his car to the old


house.  He happily walked up to the door and swiftly knocked on it. The
door opened immediately.

Question 2.

Re-write the following paragraph using appropriate “Pronouns” in the place of


nouns. 

James and Mary were siblings. One day James and Mary returned from school. James and Mary
were very hungry and went straight into the kitchen. James and Mary wanted to eat something.
In the kitchen James and Mary saw a cat. The cat was drinking the milk mother had kept for
James and Mary. James ran out screaming. James was scared. James was always afraid of cats.
Mary was a brave girl. Mary was not afraid of anything. Mary shooed the cat away. The cat ran
out. James saw the cat running away. James came back into the kitchen. James praised Mary
for Mary’s courage. Mary thanked James.
Rewritten.

her courage. She thanked him.

Read the following paragraph carefully. Find out any ten “Adjectives” from the
paragraph and use them in your own sentences. (Sentences from paragraph will not
be considered)

One day a small brown bear was walking slowly through the woods. He was sad because he
had lost his soft teddy. He lost it yesterday when he was running quickly through the dark
wood. He had been jumping over small stones, big logs and wet puddles. He was now looking
for his teddy. He looked under big bushes, tiny twigs and behind tall trees. He lifted up heavy
stones and moved tiny pebbles, but still no teddy. After lots of looking he saw a very wet and
dirty teddy sat in a big puddle. The small bear was very happy and skipped home with a huge
smile on his face.

Adjectives: Sentences

1. Small brown: There’s a small brown dog in the street.


2. Sad: She seems always sad.
3. Soft: He is very soft and delicate yet.
4. Dark: At the kitchen door she nearly ran into a dark form.

Change the following paragraph into the past simple tense.

We are making pictures out of leaves and twigs, which pupils are bringing in from home. Peter
is cutting out pictures of woodland animals from the old magazines that parents donate. Emma
uses crêpe paper to form a bark-like appearance on an old cardboard tube – it looks like an oak
tree. Mrs. Thomson praises their efforts and gives them both a sticker.

One day a rich dad took his son on a trip to village.

He wanted to show him how poor someone can be.

They spent time on the farm of a poor family.

Dad asked, “Did you see how poor they are?

What did you learn?”

Son said, “we have one dog, they have four,

We have pool, they have rivers,

We have lamps at night, they have stars,

We buy food, they grow theirs,

We have walls to protect us, they have friends,

We have encyclopedias, they have Bibles”

Then they headed,

Thanks dad for showing me how poor we are.”

Moral Lesson: It’s not about money that makes us rich but it’s about simplicity of having God
in our lives.

Then they headed (intransitive verb),

Thanks dad for showing (present participle, verb) me how poor (adjective) we are.”

Moral Lesson: It’s not about money (noun) that makes us rich (adjective ) but
(conjunction) it’s about simplicity (abstract noun) of having God (Proper Noun) in our
lives (plural noun).
