Assessment:
For the assessment portion of this lesson, students will work with an empty map of the state of Georgia. Their task is to label
Georgia’s 5 geographic regions correctly. They also must write a paragraph or information and facts for each of the 5
geographic regions. Their paragraphs should be 3 to 5 sentences long. The maps and short essays will be graded on accuracy.
Students can use these maps as future resources further along in this unit about Georgia. This product will be meaningful to
students as it will test their abilities of their mapping skills and it will serve as an accountability resource to make sure
students are studying and working hard towards their goals for this lesson.
Learner Objectives:
Students will be able to classify and compare the geographic features of Georgia’s 5 Geographic Regions.
Time Frame:
My lesson will take 20 to 25 minutes as it contains 10 slides/activities for students to adventure through are they continue
further in my Near Pod lesson. I added my Multimedia Lesson Plan Video and this video is 3 minutes long. To take notes in
an adequate amount of time, it may take students 5 to 8 minutes to watch my video and fill out their graphic organizers.
Process:
Students will journey through this Near Pod lesson to accomplish their learning objective by identifying and comparing the 5
geographic regions of Georgia so they are able to properly learn and distinguish all 5 of the different regions. Students will
spend 20 to 25 minutes on their Near Pod lesson while the teacher does a walk through every 5 minutes to make sure that
students are staying on task and staying focused. The teacher will have the Near Pod teacher version on her computer
monitoring her students’ progress. She will also take notes on questions or activities that students are struggling with to be
able to revisit those concepts for all students to learn and grow from. The face to face version of this lesson will be the
teacher introducing the lesson on Near Pod and at the end of the lesson where the teacher will wrap up her day in class. The
assessment part of the lesson will also be face to face and teacher monitored.
