…To hear the Word

Mark 1:1-8 NLT “Here begins the Good News
about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God. It
began 2 just as the prophet Isaiah had written:

“Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you,

and he will prepare your way.

He is a voice shouting in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming!
    Clear the road for him!’”

This messenger was John the Baptist. He was in
the wilderness and preached that people should be baptized to show that they had repented of
their sins and turned to God to be forgiven. 5 All of Judea, including all the people of Jerusalem,
went out to see and hear John. And when they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the
Jordan River. 6 His clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around
his waist. For food he ate locusts and wild honey.

John announced: “Someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m
not even worthy to stoop down like a slave and untie the straps of his sandals. 8 I baptize you
with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit!”

…To Disperse in Mission

May Jesus Christ, the King of the World, make His reign known through your life.
May His Kingdom’s present reality be a constant reminder for you to reflect His love and grace
into this world and invite others to know our King.
May His Kingdom’s future fulfillment move you to focus your heart away from the things of this
present, fleeting age, so that you may cling to that which is good and right and eternal
as you offer your life continually to the One who holds eternity. Amen

Please continue in your study of the book, “Deep Rooted.” Tomorrow is Day 5 in the study.

I encourage you to find a “study buddy” with whom you can share what you are learning and
with whom you can pray. Spend at least 15 minutes once or twice a week with each other on the
phone.

 Begin your conversation together catching up on how each is doing.

 Share one or two things that you are learning about Jesus, what he came to do, how He
treated people and how He displayed God.
 With this new insight/information, how should your life change?
 Pray with and for each other.
