2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

My summer internship program (SIP) with UNSCHOOL was for 4 months and it was a journey
which I will cherish for a long time. The learning that I had from this internship is very valuable
and I feel obliged to have had this opportunity.

I worked as marketing and operations intern and I was assigned to recruit and train interns under
me. I had to train interns on lead generation techniques and pitching methods so that they can get
positive conversions for the organization. I trained more than 80 interns throughout my tenure as
intern with unschool.

8
3. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

The objective of studying and understanding prospect expectations in different clusters is to

obtain specific information on why I was not successful in penetrating specific markets in spite
of the fact that we and my team were working hard to acquire that market.

This study would help me to give some suggestions to the company on what can be done in order
to penetrate in markets from which I had survey on different elements on what is their
expectation from online learning and what exactly are they looking in courses.

9
4. ABOUT THE SECTOR
WHAT IS EDUTECH?

Edutech, or education technology encompasses everything from the easy use of computers to
show maths and reading to youngsters in elementary faculties by Stanford professors within the
Sixties, to the submission of schoolwork on-line, entire on-line degree platforms, informal
mobile learning applications, gamification or computer game techniques. What started as
associate degree experiment in education delivery is currently being remodeled by a replacement
breed of technology entrepreneurs.

Just as technology, and notably the digital era, has discontinuous and improved most major
segments of our economy, education and coaching can within the same method bear a technical
school revolution.

As we have a tendency to witnessed the conversion of the media business via the copiousness of
latest content, audience fragmentation, information centricity and also the convergence between
content and platform players, therefore can they impact the education in market, resulting in a
raft of opportunities for innovators in Edutech. However, Edutech isn't with reference to

10
reformatting books and coaching manuals, or maybe concerning the individual technologies
themselves.

It is concerning applying digital technology to deliver a replacement style of learning design. An

design that harnesses the social reach of the web, that delivers customized learning associate
degreed coaching which will mechanically befits an individual’s learning competency which
uses huge information analysis to know the foremost effective ways that for learners to progress.
In ever-changing the standard design of education, Edutech has the facility to make efficiencies,
cut prices and change new levels of standardization and democratized access. It is set to rework
the longer term of however education is resourced, taught, consumed and, ultimately, the results
that it will then yield – each for the individual and for society as a full as we have a tendency to
still build the information economy.

THE IMPACT OF EDUTECH ON prices Traditional education systems area unit inherently
inefficient. Worldwide, the combined education and coaching industries account for
disbursement of over $4 trillion, representing a large eighty-four % increase since 2000. Despite
this, reading and maths scores have remained stagnant within the United States, whereas it's
calculable that eighty-five % of each dollar spent on education is spent delivering it – the prices
of bricks and mortar and teaching employees, amongst different things. The link between rising
education expenditure and academic performance is thus weak, and reducing the worth tag
related to ancient education delivery may be a clear chance for Edutech.

11
This is notably true for e-learning ways, attributable for the power to deliver one-to-many on a
totally new value base. However, value efficiencies don't seem to be solely the domain of the e-
learning world. Reliable broadband services and adoption of different technologies just like the
Cloud have expedited policies like Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) in faculties, permitting
pupils to use their own instrumentality. As a result, less cash is spent on hardware for faculties –
that presently makes up sixty % of IT budgets.

IMPROVED USER ENGAGEMENT AND LEARNING IMPACT

By saving on instructional or coaching budgets during this method, extra money will then be
allotted to instructional components like sensible learning software package that provides
tailored lesson plans, or innovative digital content like participating video materials which is able
to improve outcomes.

Indeed, user expertise and engagement is quick changing into the most someone among the
ever-growing field of education technology choices. The integration of multi-media,
gamification, mobile casual and informal learning apps and peer-to-peer learning platforms area
unit all creating content progressively immersive; designed to not solely attract students however
additionally keep them engaged – all the thanks to the tip. Video learning formats as an example

12
are shown to accelerate the training method and area unit a pretty format for the user. With the
advances in software package and 3D animation engines, the link between video and immersive
environments is shut, as are often seen within the video games market. Edutech is additionally
making a stronger link between what happens within the schoolroom and outdoors the
schoolroom (at home, in transit, etc.), creating teacher-endorsed digital instructional resources
obtainable in any respect times, like assignments and take a look at school assignment material,
and making a time of bit points within the learning expertise for pupils.

This is ever-changing the method pupils area unit intense education within the same method
Cloud technology has modified the method we have a tendency to consume music and tv. THE
BENEFITS of huge information The growth of Edutech has additionally provided lecturers and
assessors with so much larger access to information on individual achievements and progress.

THE BENEFITS OF BIG DATA

The arrival of information analytics techniques in education has driven adaptation learning,
wherever information is fed back to the system to influence learning programs and structures.
Customized learning programs are often known, and information gaps that may exist stuffed. Not
solely that however the power to access and store information on pupils is driving the emergence
of Learning Record Stores which will be carried with them from one learning institution to a
different, arming people with permanent documentation of what they’ve learnt and achieved.
Since learning is currently a long demand, not one thing we will leave behind at faculties and
colleges; this can be changing into progressively necessary for the market that awaits college
leavers and graduates.

THE DEMOCRATIZATION OF EDUCATION

The importance of Edutech doesn't simply have it away the facility it's to bring down prices and
interact learners in new and innovative ways that. It is additionally concerning the method within
which it will equalize standards and change access for all, leading to the democratization of
education. Online platforms, mobile applications and new learning formats have massively
improved access to education, also as enhancing the training method itself, whereas on-line and
Cloud technologies bring with them exciting standardization prospects for content.

13
BUILDING THE KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY

Now, a rundown, center college will receive a similar normal and level of content as a well-
funded one in an exceedingly flush space. And this can be true not simply on {a college|a faculty|
a college} by school or country by country basis, however globally; giving developing nations
access to developed instructional establishments, each in an instructional and skilled learning
setting.

14
5. ABOUT THE COMPANY & DEPARTMENT

In a world wherever learning solely comes from our childhood at school and school, Unschool is
that the new, easy, and definitive path for maintaining with the twenty first century. It’s the
platform wherever you'll finally stop making an attempt to suit in an exceedingly system crafted
for the plenty and learn in an exceedingly distinctive method that brings out the most effective
version of YOU. Unschool may be a market-place for everybody World Health Organization has
the data to share or a ability to show, to teach galvanized people eager to learn. Learning ought to
ne'er stop to be a part of life. Hence, we tend to draw a bead on to own lecturers return host
courses on our platform and coach a generation of learners. We, at Unschool, believe that
teaching isn't meant just for typical lecturers, however within the concept anyone and everybody
will teach (and learn).

15
HOW IT ALL STARTED

Did you recognize that by the year 2025, the youth population in Asian country goes to 600
million i.e. forty fifth of the entire population? Currently, this implies an excellent deal for the
expansion and prosperity of the state and as a young country, Asian country is destined to be in
its most progressive and economically promising state. However, a data point that’s equally
heavy is that but five hundredth of those 600 million youth area unit about to be employable.
What will this say concerning the nation’s growth and authorization of the people? And World
Health Organization is in charge for this condition?

This is wherever we tend to determine to intensify. We tend to area unit a community of young,
burning and bold people World Health Organization believe the concept that “actions speak
louder than words”. Unschool was born and works with the intent to reinvent the education
system in India and can still work towards authorization of the youth and abolishing the many
imminent issues existing within the Education system in India and on the far side.

6. INTERNSHIP SUMMARY

As a marketing and operations intern at unschool, I was offered UCC (Unschool community
champion) position, which is the best position an intern can get at unschool. I had to recruit
interns for UCI (Unschool community influencer) and UCL (Unschool community leader)
positions and train them on different elements such as customer acquisition and business
development.

I had to train them on LEAD GENERATION, PITCHING METHODS, through which they can
ultimately close leads and enhance revenue of company. Initially when I started with internship, I
had to try and close some leads from my side before I start forming my team. To form teams, I
had to make a google form and circulate to my contacts and look for people who are interested
for internship. I had to take interviews and select people for UCI and UCL position. I had to
conduct meetings and help them on any issues if they had any. I also got in touch with placement
department of ness wadia college of commerce, pune, and recruited some interns from their
institute initially. I later got few intern leads from my company from savitha college of
engineering, Chennai, for whom I scheduled interview and selected few interns.

Throughout the internship I recruited and trained more than 80 interns for UCI and UCL
position. When I initially started my work, I worked on 3 offers, 1 course for 999/-, 2 courses for
1600/-, 4 courses for 3500/-. After a month prices hiked and the new prices were 1 course at
1499/-, 2 courses at 1999/-, 4 courses at 3500/-. The latest price hikes were 1 course for 1800/-, 2
courses for 2600/-, 3 courses for 3000/-, 4 courses for 3600/-, along with limited Independence
Day offer where we offered two courses for 1947/-.

18
The courses we offer: - (few from many courses we offer)

19
20
I was able to achieve 1,37,450/- revenue in my internship with my team and I was also made
leader by the company to train other UCC to make teams and also help them on understanding
team working and other elements.

7. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

My project was on understanding prospect customers in different clusters through surveys from
our intern leads and existing and prospect customers.

Methodology

My focus in this project was to identify the attributes which the prospect customers of the
company gave more importance to, compared to facilities provided by the company In our
service. I used survey responses from leads which my interns were not able to convert in specific
markets resulting in failure to penetrate in such tricky markets.

Research Design

This research is a Descriptive research and a study that is mainly aimed at examining prospect
expectations in clusters which we were not able to penetrate in. Explanatory research design is
used to identify the new factors that are influencing customer perception to opt for courses on
our website and to establish relationship that exists between factors to serve the customer in
better way.

It’s a quantitative research design method where data was collected through circulating
questionnaire in markets where we were not successful in getting good response for our courses.

Target Population

The target population for my study includes every individual who wanted to opt for online
learning but eventually decided to opt for courses on other platforms and not our platform.

Sample Frame

A sampling frame is a list of all the items in your population. It’s a complete list of everyone or
everything you want to study. In our case all students who we study are the sample frame of our
research.

22
Sample Size

Online learning has good future and growth, but the prospect study size could have been huge if
the whole market had to be studied properly. Hence we collected 55 responses in our
questionnaire i.e. at the ratio of 1:5 for question to responses.

Sampling Techniques

Sampling may be done either at probability or a non-probability basis. This is an important

research design decision, and one which will depend on such factors as whether the theory
behind the research is positivist or idealist, whether qualitative or quantitative methods are used
etc.

In this research, non-probability sampling technique was used.

23
Data Collection

For the purpose of collecting data, a well-designed questionnaire was used and according to the
research requirement questionnaire was designed. This questionnaire consist of 10 variables in
both independent and dependent variable namely, price, practical learning, brand name,
internship opportunities, interactive sessions, certificate validation, which will add value to your
profile and others.

24
8. LEARNING/ FINDING

Through my survey on prospect expectations in different clusters, I got to know that prospects in
market which we were not able to penetrate gave more importance to practical learning and
prices which they feel are missing on our platform compared to other platforms at this moment.
9. SUGGESTION

I worked with unschool as marketing and operations intern for 4 and a half months and realized
few loopholes which if resolved can help the organization to grow at a better pace than it is at
this point of time.

Few suggestions that I would like to give from my experience and through surveys conducted by
me are: -

1. Expanding in different fields and providing more course options for customers to choose from
which can help them get more conversions.

2. Playing the internship opportunity USP card more efficiently by posting about companies that
come to their platform to provide internship opportunities to students who are opting for courses
on their website.

3. Having a special market penetration team working on acquiring new markets which are still
untapped.
