Diversity Project Reflection

 After participating in this assignment describe any impact positive or

negative on your openness and curiosity about cultures.

Here are some positive impacts on my openness and curiosity about cultures.

First, I have a deeper understanding of the different food around the world.

Moreover, I’m curious about the food practice in Italy, for it looks delicious and

charming. In addition, the introduction about cultural diversity let me explore

more about that.

 Which video resonated the most with you and why?

The video produced by Vincy’s group resonated most with me. In this video, two

group members participated in acting the roles. They aimed to show cultural

differences such as daily habit and time management. They show the idea like the

drama, which undoubtedly draw our attention and broaden our horizon. I do agree

that Chinese students have a different timetable with American students.

 Will your participation in this assignment forge a change in you?

Yes, definitely I have challenged myself. First if all, I was the presenter in my

group, and the content of the presentation was heavy and difficult. In order to

reduce my nervousness, I needed to practice hard. Thankfully, the presentation

succeeded in the end. After giving this presentation, I gain confidence and I dare

to give the presentation to the public with enough preparation. In addition, I’m

more than delighted that I can give the presentation without the script.

 Will you do anything differently or think differently?

To be honest, I used to be shy in giving the presentation. But this time, I’m sure

that I can overcome all the difficulties. Moreover, after cooperating with my

group members, I realize that the power of group participation. In addition,

during this class, I have seen that most of us show an interest in food around the

world. Majored in Marketing, maybe in the future, the international food will win

great popularity in the future. For this, I will pay more attention to the price of

international food and the successful sale plans around the world.

 What do you see as cultural similarities and cultural differences between

your peers in Wenzhou?

To start with, it is the dialects. My peers come from different provinces in China,

and they can say different dialects. Sometimes, you will be surprised some words

in different dialects pronounce at the same tone. Also, there are many cultural

differences among peers. One of the group members expresses that she cannot get

used to eating the food in the canteen, for it is different from her hometown.

Additionally, when it comes to taking the bath, some of them get used to bathing

in the bathhouse, which provides a high-temperature atmosphere in the winter

instead of the coldness in Wenzhou.

 How does any of the videos change your worldwide, if at all?

Yes. I’m proud of Chinese food and I used to hold the idea that nothing can

challenge the first place of Chinese food. But after seeing the video shared by

other groups, I realize that I’m totally wrong. The food in England or America

has its own charm. The food around the world has no rank or weakness. And all

of them are the second language stand for their own country.

 What do the Wenzhou Kean students videos reveal about them and their

worldview?

In the video, Wenzhou Kean students reveal their tolerance for cultural

differences. It is indispensable and valuable. Wenzhou Kean students are proud of

the cultural diversity and think highly of it. They treat every culture equally.

 Describe your worldview and vs. the students at Wenzhou’s worldview-how

are they different or similar?

Here are the differences. I think that the dialect in Wenzhou is so difficult to

understand. But the students at Wenzhou consider the Wenzhou dialect as their

second language.

Here are the similarities. I think the food in Wenzhou is delicious and I get used

to eating it like enjoying the meal in my hometown. And I love the constructions

in Wenzhou as they hole the same idea.
