    Title of Project/Business BACKYARD PIGGERY

    Our backyard piggery started only with five (5) piglets valued at P2,300 each being raised
    domestically for reselling purposes when such piglets have already reached more than a
    hundred kilos. The initiative came as the need to have additional income arises and also for our
    own benefit during special occasions as we don’t have to buy anymore for pigs to be served as
    lechon and other menus from its meat during such occasions as we have been raising some for
    future use and breeding pigs for the sole aim of making profits. We have been in this
    business since the year 2016 and from time to time we buy additional piglets while selling the
    ones we have bought earlier after reaching the needed kilos for their disposal. We have also
    reared piglets suitable to become sow. With only one person manning the feeding and the
    cleaning, our small backyard grew slowly, we now have 5 sow which farrowed more or less 10
    piglets each every five (5) months and have disposed more or less 10

    The backyard piggery was conceptualized by the family to deliver and provide hogs, gilts and
    piglets to neighboring barangays who are in need of it for occasions as well as piglets for those
    who would like to start venturing into the same business or make piggery as a means of
    livelihood at a reasonable price.

    The changing market value of the hogs and the piglet, the rapid rising of the prices of the feeds
    and the unending market competition have been our major setbacks but these have not made
    us stop, instead we strive harder to deliver quality products and find means to cut cost by
    seeking and asking from experts feed formulation to increase digestibility. We try to sell our
    products at very reasonable prices and they would return to us telling that our pigs are of
    quality and a value for money.
