Cuff • RC on 000 • Lock settings stay as before (N/N and T 4,5) Ø knit 40 rows Ø Cuff done
increasing for thumb wedges • always increase opposite the lock • always add 2 needles , therefore you´ll keep the needle rule • it will be knitted throughout in 1:1 division • as a reminder where your main needles were set up, just set one pusher under each end needle on your front bed (needle 30 left to 29 right). As you knit on N/N it has no impact on your knitting.
• Lock is on the right side Ø on the left of your front and back bed push 1 needle on each bed in working position (follow your 1:1 division) à knit 1 row (your lock is on the left) Ø do the same on the right side: add 1 needle on each bed à knit 1 row to the right Ø repeat theses steps until you´ve added 20 needles on each side (you may add more needles if you want to add length to the thumb wedge). Ø After those increases there are stitches in 1:1 division from needle 50 left to needle 49 right and your lock is on the right side, too.
Ø RC on 000 à knit 16 rows Ø lock is on the right
Now you need to cast off the stitches you´ve increased before, so that you get back on your basic stitches of 60.
• those needles you increased on the back bed on the right side have to be transferred on those empty needles on the front bed with your transfer tool • those now free needles on the back bed should be pushed down, to non working position! • Cast off: o to make it easier, add a claw weight o transfer the right most needle onto the adjacent needle o push this needle up, wrap the yarn twice o pull it down and the wrapped yarn formed a new stitch o transfer this stitch to the adjacent needle and repeat the steps until 20 stitches are casted off. o the very last cast off stitch has to be transferred to the right most end needle on the back bed (needle rule!)
• knit 1 row
o cast off on the left side as you did before on the right side o transfer the very last cast off stitch on the left most needle on the front bed o Now you´re back to the number of needles you started with (60 needles in 1:1 division)
• knit 1 row to the right
hand´s palm / finger part Ø lock is on the right Ø RC on 000 à kni 16 rows
Cast off simple version • transfer all your stitches from back to front bed • bring all empty needles on the back bed back to working position • handle down • Lock N/N • Tension stays at 4,5 • knit 1 row to the left • lower your front bed • crochet off Lay the mitt to half (public side outwards) and close with a mattress stitch.
Half Cable Variation (Original by Carole Wurst/The Rocking Horse Farm) • transfer all your stitches from back to front bed • Lock GX/BX • Tension 6 • pushers in rest position, except for the three right most pushers, they have to be in working position • knit 6 rows • bring the next 3 pushers in working position à knit 6 rows
Using your 3 prong tool and transfer the right most 3 stitches to their adjacent 3 needles on the left • pull empty needles out of work and their corresponding pushers, too • bring the next group of 3 pushers in working position à knit 6 rows
Repeat that way and travel all the way to the left.
The second last group of three will be transferred onto the last 3 needles à cast off
Lay the mitt to half (public side outwards) and close with a mattress stitch.
