Orbis Sav–Wire base

Installation Guide
General
The Orbis Sav-Wire base, Part No. ORB-SW-10005, is a mounting base for Orbis smoke and
heat detectors and may be used only with a Sav-Wire compatible fi re control panel. The
use of any other control panel will render the fi re detection system inoperable.

Detectors, call points and sounders are connected to the control panel by one pair of
wires. In the event of an alarm, polarity is reversed in order to activate the sounders with-
out affecting the status of the detectors.

Orbis Sav-Wire bases incorporate a circuit which detects the removal of a detector head.
If a detector is removed from the base, the control panel will give a fault signal.

Installation and Wiring

1. When installing Orbis Sav-Wire bases, observe BS5839 part 1 or any
applicable local code.

2. The outside of the base is marked with a moulded vertical line to

indicate the position of the LED when the detector has been fitted. This
facilitates detector orientation if required.

3. Partially screw two screws into the mounting box or soffit at the required
centres.

4. Place the corresponding slots of the base over the screws and slide the
base home.

5. Tighten up the screws.

6. It is essential to observe polarity when wiring an Orbis Sav-Wire base.

7. Shielded cables should be used.

8. Wire in accordance with the wiring diagram in this guide.
