    About Project

    Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

    In the context of Nepal, the children are forced to study only mainstream subjects like Medical Science and Engineering as a matter of family
    prestige which affects the student's interest and talent. The way of teaching in High School and Undergraduate level has a huge gap. People
    aren't prepared of the disaster which the nation of prone to face. The project is trying to address the Education system, Disaster Risk Reduction
    and more social issues

    Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

    To change the education system even in a small scale, running a project called 'Plan Your Future' where student's will be introduced to subjects
    which are not mainstream like Anthropology, International Relations, Economics and so. Running other project for High School Students, where
    they will be taught different skills like Presentation, Creative Writing which would be helpful for them to decrease gap between teaching system
    in Undergraduate Level. For Disaster Risk Reduction, providing interactive sessions in the schools to teach them the "DO's and DONT's" of

    Disaster that Nation is prone to face. To address Human Trafficking, conducting workshops regarding the issue to the students, youths and
    elder people of the villages and cities.

    Impact: How does it Work

    The project Plan Your Future will help students to get insight & information about the subjects they never have heard of. This will also help them to
    pursue their career in one of the related field of studies. Running the project to provide high school student with certain skills is going to help them
    better understand the teaching style in the higher level of education not making the traditional style they have been taught, a barrier. Teaching
    Disaster Risk Reduction is going to help people be ready for any casualties that happens uncertainly. For Example: If they are taught about the
    earthquake drills then they will know what to do and what not to during the earthquake. Information workshop regarding trafficking will reduce the
    casulty

    Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

    So far, we've taught earthquake drills to more than 30 schools in Kathmandu and more than 10 schools outside Kathmandu. The project Plan Your
    Future was done once and it impacted student's mindset with the careers they wanted to pursue on their interest. We are also planning to run
    information booth regarding trafficking in the villages since villages people are often the victim of human trafficking as they live under poverty and
    have no proper access to such information. The project is going to create a future impact, because once you educate one generation of people
    then they certainly will pass their knowledge to the new generation.

    Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

    The project came out of ideas in a team. We haven't registered the NGO, it's just we named the team and started working on it, and we plan to
    register it and work with the students (as we are student's too). We are going to reach out to schools and high schools to different geographical
    areas around the country and form a team in each area and carry out the project on their area, schools and villages. The students are going to be
    the policy makers of the organization.

    Sustainability

    Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

    Till today, the financing has been from the pocket money of the team and by funding from individuals and parents. We haven't thought of a long run
    but it is going to run on the principle of Non-Profit and Service. Though, everyday we are looking for organizations or ventures to partner to do a
    project with us.

    Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these
    approaches?

    Specifically, there are NGOs working in the sector of Trafficking, Education and Disaster Risk Reduction, but our one is more than that. It is
    turning idea's into reality to create some changes in our society, in our community. Plan Your Future was born out of Idea, Earthquake Drills was
    born out of ideas and so we actively work on the trending issues by coming up with unique ways to solve it being financially sustainable.

    Team

    Founding Story

    We started the idea of working in a team when we were in school (most of us were below 14). We started the team and started working on the
    environment issues (started with cleaning society campaigns). But some would leave and some would join, as it happened, we dissolved the team.
    Later, again we formed another and started working on another issue. Looking back in time, having a fluctuation in proper team and work, it is a
    "Aha" moment today that finally we have a team, who are passionate to work together, pitch their ideas and work it to make into reality and create
    an impact at the same time.

    Team

    The team composition is totally based on volunteerism and pitching the idea and working on it. To evolve the team composition as project grows,
    we plan to set up the student college/school ambassador for each educational institution to inspire new ideas to turn into reality for better future of
    the society.
