REFLECTION PAPER

Can machines / computers replace the human mind?

For me, no machines can never replace human beings. Human beings may not be perfect in everything but
humans are the ones who make machines. Naturally, that makes them more efficient than machines as the vice
versa is not possible. Besides the meaning of efficiency is not limited to doing a lot of things in a short period of
time, it also involves the use of many skills machines do not possess. For e.g. Machines lack in reasoning, art and
creativity but human beings lack of speed is compensated by their emotional intelligence, adaptability and most
importantly empathy.

There are many professions in which machines will never be able to replace human beings due to the lack
of these skills... Like doctors, teachers, lawyers, architects, pilots...All of these professions require presences of
mind, creativity and empathy. Scientifically speaking it has been proven that machines can never achieve 100%
efficiency due to the law of thermodynamics.

Human beings take decisions based on memories of events which have occurred in the past, in other
words they make decision on the basis of the experiences they have had. Machines are incapable of this quality
which makes human beings unique and at the same time superior to them. Finally, machines may break down due
to wear and tear. They can't repair themselves only human beings can do this. When human beings get sick they
can heal themselves. As we know that the machines are created by humans so this means human can put one or
more things/capabilities in it but not all the qualities which he possess.

Therefore, we can see that there are exceptions for machines to do some or other things which makes man
more important and replace with machines. For someone to act like they do, they have to have past experiences. So
far, we have no way to upload fake memories into a machine. If we did, then machines could replace humans, but
they would not be the same. Machines will be perfect, where as humans make mistakes. This is how we better
ourselves. If we made no mistakes, we wouldn't learn.
