Title: The Malaysia of Today

We are back!
For more excitement!
Let’s get the adrenaline rush
and the love feeling stronger than ever
(Sounds of falling in love: Haaaaa….)
So you, you and you
just sit back, relax and enjoy
Assalamualaikum and a very pleasant morning to the
Honourable judges, time keeper, teachers and all fellow friends
We, smart, talented, determination
Would like to present you
The Malaysia of Today
(sounds of bomb dropping)
Run, run, run for your lives
The Japanese are here
(sounds of screaming)
Thus begun the reign of terror, horror, torture
(sounds of machine guns)
Public executions, became a daily affair
Father, mother, brothers and sisters
Men, women, and even children
Died in vain…

Our first nightmare ended

After the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
The Japanese surrendered
And we bade Sayonara..

The British came marching in

(Sounds of trumpet)
Our fight for freedom was not over
The bloodshed continued..

1957
A voyage to London
(Sounds of aeroplane)
Negotiations towards independence
Claimed by our 1st Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman

Yes!! Yes!! Yes!!

Without any bloodshed

We gained our independence
At the stroke of midnight
On the 31st of August 1957

Merdeka! Merdeka!
Merdeka! Merdeka!
Merdeka! Merdeka!
From that day onwards
We, Malaysians took the challenge
That we will succeed as a nation
United by our Malaysian Dream
Inspired by our great leaders

(Song: Standing in the eyes of the world)

Standing in the eyes, standing in the eyes
Standing in the eyes, standing in the eyes
Standing in the eyes of the world

Malaysia is a multi-racial country

A country that belongs to all Malaysians
with a shared history and a belief of the same future

U-N-I-T-Y
Unity!

Only a five - letter word,

Yet, it’s the foundation of multi-racial Malaysia

Malays
(Assalamualaikum)
Chinese
(Ni hao)
Indians
(Vanacam)
And others

A unique heritage of different races

Selamat Hari Raya
Gong Xi Fa Cai
Diwali Vartikal

We’ve dances from joget to ngajat

All swaying beautiful to our angklong
In our baju kurung, cheongsam and sari

Malaysians love their food

the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner
will be as varied as it’s people.
Tosei
char kuey tiaw
roti canai
nasi lemak
and teh Tarik

ummm..yummy..
yummy..yummy..
look at my tummy..
(sounds of laughing)
In the world of sports
We’ve shared joys and tears
Agony of defeat, glory of success
we’ve made our presence felt

Azizul Hasni Awang, The Pocket Rocket Man

Thriving the velodrome without fear
Nicole Ann David, squashing her rivals
Lee Chong Wei, ruling the courts the world over

Hey! Don’t forget our outstanding paralympians

Mohamad Ridzuan, Muhammad Ziyad, and Abdul Latif

They are all the Gold Medalist in the World Paralimpic Games
(Oh.. Yeah!!)
Our Malaysian sports stars - a bonfire of hope and inspiration

Therefore….
Appreciate our country independence
Take pride in keeping it’s honour
As it’s need to be prolong
For the future generation

Unity unites us all

We are the New Malaysia
Diligent Malaysians will be united

We, the youths of Malaysia want a country

founded on safety, peace and prosperity
Upholding the principles of our Rukun Negara.

We want forward - thinking Malaysians

to meet the challenges of globalization.
Let’s hold hand together
And face the future with one heart, one mind, and one soul
Remember we are one!
We are The Malaysia of Today!
