Aligner+ Consulting & Mentoring Program

Step-by-Step Process
The Aligner+ Consulting & Mentoring program is designed to ensure you have 100% success on
every patient, no matter your orthodontic background. We have the technology, expertise, and
tools to make every case a success, and ensure your patients are thrilled with their results.

Here is an overview of the 2-Part Diagnosis process of our Consulting & Mentoring Program.

DONE BY YOU IN THE CLINIC

Step 1: Orthodontic Screening


Every patient in your practice should be
screened for Orthodontics. This should be
a 5 minute process done with a doctor and
an assistant, looking through the
classification of the case, patient
expectations, and goals & limitations. This
process can be done in the patient file of
SmileStream.com.

At the end of the screening, you will be


able to advise the patient if they may be a
good orthodontic candidate, and if so,
encourage them to take records.

Step 2: Take Records

If the patient agrees to the next step, you


will need to take the standard orthodontic
records (a series of photographs,
cephalometric x-ray, OPG, and models).

These records will be uploaded to the


Picture Tab of SmileStream.com.

Step 3: Submit Case to Consultant or Mentor


You have a wide variety of options to receive the level of service that you want for this case.

3a. Select which type of treatment you and your patient will accept

Drag options in order of preference. The more you’ll accept, the more options for your consultant.

3b. Choose between Consulting and Mentoring

Consulting: get assistance with the initial diagnosis only. All future support is subject to extra
charges at the consultant’s discretion.

Mentoring: your mentor will follow your case from start to finish, reviewing your case at preset
times, to ensure it finishes with success. Case checks at these set times are included in the
fee. Extra questions outside these times are subject to extra charges at mentor’s discretion.

3c. Choose your Consultant or Mentor

Once you choose which type of service you would like, you will see a list of available
instructors. Whether you choose someone you know, or the first available instructor, you can
feel confident you will get a high quality service since all consultants have been trained and
approved by POS.

3d. Submit Case to Instructor

Once you have agreed to the terms, click “Submit” and the case will be sent to the consultant.

How will I be charged?

You will be charged for the most expensive treatment type you are considering. All aligner
selections are charged at the Unlimited Package rate initially and are the highest fee. Thus if
you choose any aligner options, you will be charged at the Aligner+ Unlimited rate. If your
instructor chooses a lower cost option that you had available, you’ll be refunded the difference.
Step 4: Consultant Analysis & Recommendation
Your consultant will begin the “Part 2” diagnosis, which includes:

In Depth-Analysis

 Tracing the cephalometric x-ray*


 Tracing the models*
 Creating a Visual Treatment Objective (VTO)*
 Analyzing torque considerations*

* This analysis will be Read-Only unless the user is either a POS Comprehensive
Orthodontics Student or Graduate or has purchased a full license to SmileStream.

Recommending a Treatment Plan

 Choosing treatment options to consider


 Selecting the best treatment option
 Editing this treatment plan to the specifics of the case
 Designing the aligners, including instructions to the stager
 Filling out the Aligner Submission Form, including all notes to the stager
 Detailing what to look for when analyzing setup returned by ClearCorrect
 Predicting any brackets and wires that may be needed (if any, they’ll be added to your
cart at a $0 price. Check out at any time; you may include them with other orders.)

Step 5: Second Consultation
If you agree with your consultant’s recommendations,
it is time for your second consultation with the patient
to explain the suggested treatment.

Once the patient approves treatment, have him/her


sign a consent form and contract for service.

If a VPS impression or intraoral scan has not been


taken yet, this will need to be done in order to submit
your case to ClearCorrect.

Step 6: Submit to ClearCorrect

Now you are ready to submit to ClearCorrect.


Copy the diagnosis and treatment details from
SmileStream to ClearComm.

6a. Reference Details from Consultant

Copy the details from your consultant (located


in SmileStream’s “Aligner+ Submission Info”
Section in the treatment plan).

Click on the “Aligner+” tab on the left menu


under “Clinical.” This will open ClearComm in a
separate tab.

6b. Place Details in ClearComm

In ClearComm, click on “Submit a Case” in the


upper right corner. This will open a 10 step
process to add all the relevant information
ClearCorrect needs to process your case.

Simply copy the information the instructor filled


out, making sure you add all the bullet points in
the “additional instructions” area, and your
records.

Step 7: Review Aligner Setup and Submit Case

7a. Review Setup

In a few days, your case will be returned from


ClearCorrect for you to review the setup.

You have a few options of how to review the


setup:

1. Review yourself using the notes


provided by the consultant.
2. Resubmit to consultant if you are
unsure of the setup. If you chose
consulting, this review is subject to
further charges at discretion of
consultant.
3. If you chose mentoring service, notify
your mentor to review the setup
(included in price). He/she will either
advise you to accept or provide
feedback to ClearCorrect on areas
that need to be corrected.

7b. Approve or Revise

If the case needs further edits, submit notes back to ClearCorrect for edits to be made to setup,
and the process starts again.

If the case is ready for approval, click “Approve” and the case will be produced by ClearCorrect
and sent to you. As an Aligner+ POS Member, you will charged and invoiced from SmileStream
within 30 days.
Step 8: Treatment of Case and Mentoring
Follow the treatment plan, which explains how to treat the case with visit by visit instructions.

If you chose “Mentoring”, your mentor has indicated in the treatment plan when to submit the
case back to him/her for assessment. When you reach one of these milestones, send a
message to your mentor in SmileStream that the case is ready for a progress check. At this
time the mentor will review and ensure the patient is progressing as expected.

Step 9: Revisions
If you or the mentor determines the case is not
progressing as expected, a revision may be
necessary. Your mentor will suggest revisions.

If your mentor suggests that brackets and


archwires should be used (common if patient is
not compliant), he/she will add them in your
cart for $0. To revise your tray designs, please
follow the ClearCorrect procedure for revision
submittal.

If you chose “Consulting” and feel the case is


not progressing as expected, you can submit
the case for a progress check to your
consultant. The consultant will review your
case, as well as any questions, however this is
subject to charge at the discretion of the
consultant.
