VENTS AND VENTING

SECTION 901 VENTS REQUIRED


- Fixture trap shall be protected against Siphonage and Back pressure
- Provision of vent pipes

SECTION 902 VENTS NOT REQUIRED


- Vent pipe may be omitted when an interceptor acts as a primary settling
tank and discharge thru a horizontal indirect waste pipe on a secondary
receptor
*second receptor shall be properly trapped and vented
- Traps serving sinks shall be discharged by an indirect waste pipe

*no galvanized steel or galvanized wrought iron pipe shall be used
underground, and it shall be laid atleast 152 mm above the ground
*Changes in direction of vent piping shall be made on approved fitting
*no such pipe shall be bent or strained
*burred ends shall be reamed

The length of horizontal portion of a vent may exceed 1/3 of the
Total length of vertical and horizontal portions is limited by Table 7.5,
provided the vent is increased one (1) pipe size larger for it's entire length

SECTION 904 SIZE OF VENTS


- Table 7-5
* The size of Vent piping shall be based on the TOTAL number of FIXTURE UNITS
- Drainage shall be vented by one or more vent pipes, shall not be less than
the required

SECTION 905 VENT PIPE GRADES AND CONNECTIONS


- All horizontal vent pipes shall be free from Drops and Sags, shall be
graded and connected to the drip by gravity
- Vents connected to horizontal drain shall have its invert taken off above the
drainage centerline
- Vents shall be offsetted horizontally 152 mm above the highest flood level rim
- All vent pipe shall extend above the roof, and shoud be increased one (1)
pipe size larger (a.k.a. VSTR)
- Vent pipe opening of a soil or waste pipe shall not be below the trap weir
- Two fixtures may be served by a common vertical vent

SECTION 906 VENT TERMINATION


- Vent stack thru roof extension
*Distance from roof 0.15 m (min.)
*Distance from any 0.30 m (min.)
vertical surface
- Vent opening termination when there is openable access nearby
*Vertical distance 0.90 m (min.)
*Horizontal distance 3.0 m (min.)
- Vent pipe shall be extended 0.15 m from any roof or fire wall
- Vent pipes for outdoor installation
*horizontal distance from 3.0 m (min.)
any part of roof (deck)
*vertical distance from 2.1 m (min.)
any part of roof (deck)
- Joints on vent on the roof shall be made watertight and be protected
with approved flashing material

SECTION 907 VENT STACKS and RELIEF VENT


- For building 10 storeys and higher, Yoke vent is required every 3 to 5 floors
- Diameter of an individual vent shall not be less than 1 1/4" or 32 mm
or less than 1/2 or 50% of the drain it serve
- provision of venting on drainage
