CLAMP DOWN ON NON UNIONISED DRIVERS ‘WAAWAA”
AS part of measures instituted by the Public Health Emergency Committee of KMA to curb the
Spread of COVID-19, it has, in collaboration with the 24 Transport Unions in Kumasi agreed on
the following:
|. To reduce the number of passengers per seat, for example, 4 seater to 3 seater and 3
Seater to 2 seater. This is to allow for social distancing,
Hand washing and sanitizing of vehicles per trip
Registering of passengers at the various stations,
Opening of windows to allow fresh air
Say
‘These measures by the 24 Transport Unions are in tandem with the safety precautions of the
Ghana Health Service.
The KMA, by this release is directing all such drivers or operators (waawaa) to join the existing
unions oftheir choice at no cost within a month grace period with immediate effect,
Drivers who fail to comply and be regulated would have themselves to be blamed.
KMa is urging all “waawaa” drivers to take note and act accordingly to avoid being sanctioned.
