Statement of Intent
Globalization has had a remarkable effect on both the technological as well as on business
strategies. Nowadays, the management of a business shapes the companies and defines the path
of success for them. That is why business management become so crucial for every sector
whether it is industry or a small shop. Importance of business management has allured my
interest from graduation days. My name is Manpreet Singh. I would like to make the most of this
opportunity to describe my educational background and career objectives. I hail from a small
town, yet it is home to modern educational institutes. My family always provided me with an
encouraging environment which helped me focus on my education. I completed my 10 grade
from CBSE Board with 7.4 CGPA. After that, I decided to join an elite Polytechnic Institute to do a
Diploma in Electrical Engineering. I did my Diploma from Government Polytechnic Ambala with
66% and then I continued my study in Electrical field and did Bachelor of Technology from Guru
Jambheshwar University of Sciences and Technology, Hisar with 67% marks. I have appeared for
IELTS and scored 7.0 bands overall.
After my graduation, I started a job at CH Electricals as a Junior Production Engineer. My main

work is to maintain the production line of different types of equipment. Because of my job role,
I learnt about managerial skills as well as it taught me why management of each and everything
is important. I have studied some subjects related to management during my graduation which
helped me a lot to understand the real working requirements. I also procure skills of leadership
and team-working during my job. The most important thing which I learnt during my work
experience is business management. I came to know about that without this not the organization
can grow and no work can be done without definitive working strategies. Moreover, my working
environment also tested my mental level, especially during the deadlines and pressure situations.
I was really eager to pursue my higher studies after graduation but because of good working
opportunity, I decided to do the job and get some work experience. My decision of doing the job
also provided me time to think about what to do next in turn to diversify my career opportunities.
After a lot of deliberation, I made my decision to do higher studies in business management.
Main factors which resulted in this decision are my working environment and interest. I want to
do business management to acquire the complete package of knowledge in management field
and to synchronize it with my past knowledge. Post-graduation in business management will
open the doors for me to a plethora of career opportunities like project manager, business
advisor, team leader and so on. It can really boost my career in a positive and effective way.
Preparing for the future can be both a scary and exciting stage of life. In the present day, there
are so many options and avenues to choose from but out of all the choices Canada comes out on
top for me. Canada provides most of their coursework in the English language to international
students which makes it easier for the students to adapt to the environment of classrooms.
Moreover, degrees, diplomas and certificates of Canadian universities and colleges are
recognized all over the world. The Canadian education system encourages cross-disciplinary
studies and development of transferable skills like critical thinking, teamwork and
communication by using cutting edge technology and teaching skills in the classrooms. Canadian
federal government invests plenty of money in their education system which makes it superior
and competitive in comparison with the education system f other nations. Universities and
colleges of Canada are affordable, and they do not charge huge tuition fees to students which
also becomes a considerable factor while choosing overseas education destination. Furthermore,
Canada is a safe and peaceful nation with superb health care facilities. It also welcomes people
from all over the globe and it is the finest overseas destination among the students for study. All
these aforementioned reasons make Canada a perfect option for me.
I have chosen to study at Cape Breton University for my further education because it is one of
the elite universities in Canada. It has a good reputation and high quality of the academic
environment. It is a well-funded University of Nova Scotia and with one of the best favourable
student-professor ratios in the country. CBU students develop the skills they need to find their
place in the world. Apart from that, it offers the most affordable tuition fees in all of Canada and
also provides an opportunity of co-ops at the end of the study to transfer theoretical knowledge
into practical knowledge. Cape Breton has a partnership with other universities and colleges in
Nova Scotia, across Canada and around the world. Besides this, the location of the university
campus is very attractive. It is present on one of the most beautiful islands in the world in Sydney
city. CBU offers many exciting experiences to international students to enjoy their stay while
studying.
To recapitulate, a Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Business Management can help me to fulfil my

desire in interest and need for education. I can brush up my skills by studying diverse subjects
during the study which will generate analytical skills in me. The best part of this program is it
allows students from almost every education background to take this program for higher studies
because of its diverse subject range. Moreover, I can find a significant boost in working
opportunities, not just across in the industry but even across management specializations such
as project management, project leader, team leader and so on. I can grab a handsome amount
of salary package from 8 to 10 lacs approximately, but growth always depends on the hard work
and desire to learn new things in the working environment.
I am now looking for an opportunity to strengthen and expand my career progression by enrolling
with a reputable university in Post Baccalaureate Diploma of Business Management. I want to
learn more about the challenges, pressures and requirements of various businesses and how
management can influence the growth of any business. After considering different nations,
universities, colleges and courses I have concluded that Cape Breton University is best suited to
me and my requirements. I aim to put all my efforts during the study, and I am very hopeful that
you will look favourably upon my application.
