STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I, Dinu Sunny, hereby submit my student’s visa application to join the two-year graduate certificate
program in Quality Engineering Management at Lambton College, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
I did my tenth grade from Saint Sebastian’s high school and twelfth grade from Sreenarayana
Vilasam Higher Secondary School. After that, I felt that Engineering would be the area which would
give me the opportunity to learn and explore how the fundamentals of science are applied to create
technology for practical and real purpose. Hence, I did my under graduation in
Mechanical Engineering from HMS Institute of Technology under Visvesvaraya Technological
University, Belgaum from 2011 to 2015. I have secured First Class marks throughout my academics.
My engineering education was a wonderful experience and those four years were filled with
excitement, insights and knowledge. In addition, I have participated in many workshops and
presented seminars during my studies. Industrial visits conducted during the course helped me to
gain more knowledge about modern manufacturing techniques and methods. Upon graduation, I got
placed as a Mechanical Engineer Trainee in a mechanical construction company called Carlton
Industrial Engineers, in Dadar, Maharashtra. In six months time, I got a promoted to the designation
of Mechanical Engineer. During my work tenure at Carlton Industrial Engineers, I learned more
about different stages of a project from selecting the raw materials to handing over the required
product to the end clients. After successful completion of two years, I got a job offer from Kain’s
Instruments India Private Limited., in Bangalore as a Mechanical Production Engineer. Apart from
production, I was engaged in planning and quality at Kains'. My work here helped me learn how to
control and assure the quality in each stages of manufacturing, how to reduce the defects, how to
interact with clients and employers, quality control and inspection, etc. Here, I realized
that quality management is a highly challenging profession as I witnessed the significance
of quality management in manufacturing sector. I realized that my knowledge-level and
qualifications are not up to par to secure more advanced career opportunities that satiate my
professional desires. So I decided to specialize in the course Quality Engineering Management.
Upon searching about post graduation courses in India, I found that the specialization in the field
of Quality Engineering is quite limited and lacks practical exposure which is very important to attain
a clear understanding of the syllabus and for securing good employment. When I sought different
foreign countries that provide high quality education, Canada ranks as one of the best places, on
account of its economical cost of living and safe environment for students from all across the globe.
So I chose to apply for the post graduate course of ‘Quality Engineering Management’ (2 years)
at Lambton College, Toronto campus.
Browsing through the information brochure and the college website, I found that the education
from Lambton College holds a lot of promise to me. The curriculum of the
‘Quality Engineering Management’ program at Lambton College is really engrossing and it includes
six sigma improvement techniques, quality system auditing, implementation of quality systems,
testing, economics of quality etc. Moreover, the college offers Co-op Work Term as part of the
program and this would help me gain the unequivocally necessary practical experience in Canada
and take that experience back to my country of residence. So I have chosen and have been admitted
to Lambton College for the aforementioned course in September 2019 intake.
After pursuing this course, I would be in a privileged position to compete and hold myself to the
international standards in the field of Quality Engineering and this will qualify me to apply for senior
level quality engineering jobs in reputed mechanical or manufacturing firms in India. My ambition is
to become a part of a well reputed organization in India where I can utilize my skills and knowledge.
As a developing nation like India, there is great opportunity for trained professional engineers;
therefore international study will give me the opportunity to have cutting edge over my competitors
back in India.
I am very much excited to have the opportunity to study in the world’s second largest country and
most highly developed nation like Canada. I hereby request you to kindly grand me the necessary
study permit to star my higher education in the September 2019 intake.
