Summary of Specifications
Tab Plate: In the same material as plate & is welded to orifice plate. Tab plate integral to the Orifice
plate (i.e. without welding) can also be offered as a special case.
Vent / Drain: Vent or Drain holes are provided as per customer's requirement. Not drilled for orifice
bores smaller than 25.4 mm
Flange Union: Weld neck, Slip on, Threaded, Socket welded with RF or RTJ facing Orifice flanges
are in accordance with ANSI B16.36 with minimum flange rating of 300#, for sizes up to 8” or male -
female flanges in accordance with ANSI B16.5.
Pressure Tapping's: Corner tapings are recommended for sizes up to 1 ½”; Flange taps from 2" to
16”;
D – D/2 taps for higher sizes.
Gasket: SS spiral wound, SS spiral wound + Grafoil, Other materials available on request.
For RTJ flanges, the plate is fixed on the plate holder. The plate holder is in Soft Iron material & acts
as a gasket.
Stud Bolts / Nuts: ASTM A193 Gr.B7/A-194 Gr.2H as standard, other material on request.

Orifice plate is normally screwed with holder. Holder material are generally soft iron material,
however other material can be used to suit process requirement, such as SS304, SS316, SS321,
Monel 400,…
Orifices can be integrated with holder as well so that they machined from one piece.
Restriction orifice plates are normally used to regulate fluid flow or reduce the flowing pressure
downstream of the orifice plate. In some cases, these elements will be exposed to some especial flow
conditions cause by high pressure loss or cavitation, flashing and chocked flow. In this regard, Eratech
offer a variety of solution including multi-bore plate, multi-stage plate assembly, Stellited surface plate,
increased plate thickness and alternative plate material to provide customers with safe and accruable
device as enough.
Multistage Orifice Assembly consists of multiple restriction orifice plates separated by a distance of
one pipe diameter and welded with the pipes in between them. End connection is either suitable for
butt welding or with end flanges.
Unlike measurement orifices, the sizing and design of restriction orifices are not defined by
standardization organizations.
Typical Assemblies:
Weld-neck flange is normally used to install orifices which have a long neck, however slip on type is
also used. The pressure tapings will be provided through the flange which are at a distance of 1” from
the face of the plate.
Carrier ring is provided to facilitate pressure tapping through it so that corner tapping is preferred.
This construction is generally used for lower line sizes (normally less than 2”) and also where providing
pressure taps on flange is impossible. Carrier ring machined from single block which can be integral
piece or double ring (male-female) with/without annular chamber for pressure taps.
Carrier rings are also used in integral orifice assembly for higher accuracy.

Integral Flow Orifice Assembly is used when differential pressure transmitter has to be directly
mounted on the orifice assembly. This eliminates cost of installation of differential pressure transmitter
with impulse piping up to the orifice assembly. The transmitter is mounted on the orifice assembly
through a 3/5-Valve H-type manifold. Available with line sizes of 2" & below. The assembly consists of
orifice plate between two integral blocks having corner taps. Generally, meter run pipe is
recommended with upstream length of 18D and downstream length of 8D. The pipes are welded to the
blocks with end flanges. However due to process temperature limits of the transmitter, direct
assembly is not recommended for process temperatures above 120 Degrees Centigrade.

Different types of Flow nozzles including long Radios, ISA Nozzle and venturi Nozzles have been
manufacturing at Eratech to suit customer's requirements.
Flow Nozzle manufacture at Eratech is quality-controlled from selection of raw material to packaging of the
finished product.

Venturi Tube
Venturi Tube is a low pressure drop metering device. It offers constant accuracy, high-pressure
recovery and installation at any angle from horizontal to vertical. This measurement product performs
in a wide variety of applications that include air, water, vapor, steam, gas, chemical substances, and
slurry applications due to maintenance-free and extended life without moving parts.
The classical Venturi Tube is made up of an entrance cylinder of the same diameter as the pipe
connected to a conical convergent section, a cylindrical throat and a conical divergent section. The
convergent angle is 21 degrees and the divergent angle is between 7 and 15 degrees.

Accuracy: 1 ~2 % URV (Uncertainty of discharge coefficient C is 0.7, 1 and 1.5% for as cast, Machined and rough welded
respectively)

Types: 'as-cast' convergent section, 'machined' convergent section and 'rough welded' convergent section. Eratech supplies
machined and rough welded versions.
Pressure Tapping's: The high pressure taps are located on the inlet convergent section and the low pressure taps are located
at the middle of the throat section. A piezometer ring is sometimes used for differential pressure measurement. This consists of
at least 4 holes in the plane of the tap locations. Each set of holes is connected together in an annular ring to give an average
pressure.
Accessories: Mating flange, Isolating Valve, Gasket and bolting will be provided on request.

Machined with Flanged or weld ends:
In this type, the convergent section is machined as are the throat and the entrance cylinder. The
junctions between the cylinders and cones may or may not be rounded. These classical Venturi tubes
can be used in pipes of diameter between 50 mm and 250 mm and with diameter ratio β between 0.4
and 0.75 inclusive.
End connection of machined venturies can be either flange end or weld end.
This type of classical Venturi tube normally fabricated by welding. For larger sizes it may not be
machined, but in the smaller sizes the throat is machined. These classical Venturi tubes can be
used in pipes of diameter between 200 mm and 1200 mm and with diameter ratios β between 0.4
and 0.7 inclusive.
End connection of machined venturies can be either flange end or weld end.

Pitot Tube
Averaging Pitot tube is a multiport self-averaging flow meter. It is a primary element for flow
measurement of gas, liquid, vapor in pipelines and ducts based on the principle of measurement of
'differential pressure'. Permanent pressure loss of this element is low which means low energy
consumption and significant cost benefits.
Unique profile shape of this element enables high flow turndown. They are suitable for pipe sizes
from 10mm to 5000mm and for square or rectangular section ducts. Hot-tap for insertion into
pressurized pipes is also available. Direct mounting transmitter arrangement sometimes offer as an
option.
Eratech manufactures the widest range of Averaging Pitot Tubes for gases, liquids and steam with
bi-directional flow capability. There are four standard models; Inline, Insertion and Hot tap which can
provide a flow solution for your toughest applications. To provide the complete flow solution that meets
your specific needs, we can provide DP or Multivariable transmitters from the brand of your choice, or
we will recommend the best fit for your application.

or intermittent excessive flow velocity, the end-support model should always be selected for pipe sizes over 250mm internal

Pressure Tapping's: The "total pressures" developed at each upstream hole by the impact of the flowing medium are firstly
averaged within the outer impact tube and internal averaging tube. This pressure is represented at the head as the high
pressure component of the DP output. The low pressure component is generated from a single sensing hole located on the
downstream side of the outer impact tube

Flanged Fitting:
Wedge Meter
The wedge meter is a differential pressure producing device for use on all fluids especially slurries
and liquids with suspended solids. Our wedge meter is particularly effective on viscous fluids. It is
insensitive to pipe Reynolds Numbers which can be as low as 500.
The opening height of the wedge is normally 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 but it can be changed in design
according to the amount of differential required for a particular application flow range.
Pressure taps are located upstream and downstream from a "Wedge" shaped constriction inserted
in a length of pipe. The wedge creates a pressure drop between the upstream tap and downstream tap
which is related to the volumetric flow rate through the narrowest cross section of the flow element
thereby created.
Differential pressure tapping cam be either Flanged or screwed type. A remote seal connection is
available for DP transmitters. Eratech wedge meter is suitable for bi-directional flows as well.

Temperature Sensor
Temperature sensors are divided into two types: resistance temperature detectors (RTD's) or
thermocouples (TC's). Both types create an electrical signal corresponding to the temperature.
Moreover a metal sheath protects sensor elements. The connection head carries a ceramic block for
connecting the wires, attached by 2 screws with springs. In order to good thermal conductivity,
compensation of length tolerances in thermo wells and protection against vibrations, the travel of the
spring mounting makes certain the inset touching the bottom of the thermo well. When mounting in a
thermo well, the inset may be easily replaced, without removing the thermo well from the pipe and
without any interruption of the process.

Thermo wells:
Thermo wells are manufactured from drilled bar stock and have threaded NPT process connections
or flanges for direct immersion into high pressure or corrosive applications. The thermocouple
element is mounted into the thermo well and is typically spring loaded for positive contact to the bottom
wall of the well. This allows for the best possible response to temperature changes during operation.
The thermo well itself can be machined in a variety of designs and insertion lengths. Most wells are
manufactured of 304 stainless steel or 316 stainless steel, however other alloys are available.
