The topographic relief adjacent to Coropuna is amongst the greatest in the world, with elevation
differences of up to 4000M vertically in 15km horizontally. To climb the Coropuna needs
acclimatization and good physical conditions, also minimum training using the climbing equipment
(crampons and ice axe) to reach the top. All the itineraries run from 3 days up to 6 days, there are
two common routes; the first one is to go by Laguna Pallarcocha and to attack the south face, the
second one is by Maucallaqta village located on the northwest and from there to be accompanied by
carried staff animals such as donkeys, this the easy way to the base camp located above 5300M.
The mountains advice this option to get sure to reach the highest summit.
At 6AM we leave from Arequipa in our private 4WD going to the northwest of Arequipa, after 3
hours travelling we will arrive at the agricultural valley of Majes (600M) where we will visit the
Petroglyphs of Toro Muerto, located in the desert walls of this canyon. We will have 2 hours to
locate more than a hundred of carved masses of volcanic rock with human, animals and plant
figures that were work by the old civilizations of Peru over 1200 years ago. We will visit the pre-
Inca cemetery to see and get explanation about remains of the first human civilization of this valley.
Continue travelling and ascending to Chuquibamba, nice green valley (3000M) there we will able to
have lunch and then continue driving up to Andes on dirt road to get the first view of the southern
face of mount Coropuna - The next two hours will be driving and seeing this thirds highest
mountain in Peru – This part of the trip includes to pass some nice Andean forest of Queñuas or
Quiwiña (Polylepis), lot of local fauna as Llamas, Alpacas, Vicuñas, Guanacos, Condors, Andean
fox, Andean eagle, Falcon and La Llareta (Azorella compacta).Around 4PM we arrive by 4WD to
the highest point of this trip which is name as CAMPAMENTO PALLARCOCHA (4800M) - Set
up the tents and the enjoy nice diner under starry sky - Stay in tents (L - D).
Today you can wake up around 7AM for breakfast and then packing all our camping gear we start a
nice uphill trek for about 4 hours to reach the second base camp (5200M) and get closer to Mount
Coropuna – Today the way up will be gradual considered medium level and accompanied with nice
scenery as view of Solimana peak.
Sep up the tents and you will get lunch and free afternoon to walk around to get more confidence
with Coropuna Mount - Diner and stay in tents (B – L - D).
GROUP & PRIVATE SERVICE: The climb itinerary will be same for both services.
DAY 3: COROPUNA SUMMIT DAY – AREQUIPA
Today at 1AM or 2AM we wake up to get hot an energetic breakfast and then everyone fix their
climbing gear as crampons, ice axe, harness and rope (43° angle) – The first 4 hours we will climb
on the dark helped with light of our headlamps we take the southern east face to get one of the
highest top of this massive mountain – The climbing includes some section of small/big crevasse
testing our climbing skills to avoid falls – The most common obstacle to overcome are the penitents
all the way up.
Around 5:45AM the first sunshine rise over other highest mountain around Coropuna making very
nice and unforgettable memories of this climbing tour – After 6 or 7 hours of intensive/hard
climbing we conquest the summit of this mountain and expend some precious minutes enjoying the
Andean landscape around us.
At mentioned time and following the instructions of the mountain guide we start the hardest part of
the trip – The way back can be the hardest part physically for each participant - we need relatively 3
or 5 hours to descend to the base camp.
Around 2PM after packing all camping gear descend to find the 4WD and drive back to Arequipa
for about 7 hours – Each participant will be drop of in their hotels and end of service (B – L).
GROUP SERVICE ONLY: The climbers need to wait next of the road till 8PM or 9PM for a public
bus which is coming from Cotahuasi canyon and then 8 hours of bus journey arriving to Arequipa
around 2AM (day 4th)- Transfer from bus stop to hotel and end of service.

To have good acclimatization, good physical conditions and good quality winter clothes. One day
before all the climbers will have meeting with the mountain guide at our office or in the hotel, who
will give a BRIEFING about this climb and also you can check the quality of the climb gear will be
used on the mountain.

TOUR DE ESCALADA A LA MONTAÑA DE COROPUNA
La tercera montaña más alta del Perú 3 días - 2 noches
Coropuna tiene la construcción de edificios volcánicos más grande y más alta del Perú. Se eleva
desde un nivel base a aproximadamente 4500M para formar una cresta alargada que consta de al
menos 6 conos. Su punto más alto (6425M) se encuentra en el extremo noroeste. No se conoce
ninguna actividad histórica de Coropuna, ya que los cráteres de la cumbre están cubiertos de hielo,
se puede suponer que actualmente no hay manifestaciones térmicas. Pero la actividad aparente más
joven se expresa en varios flujos de lava prístina, que se extienden a varios kilómetros de los
flancos noreste, sureste y oeste del edificio, y su morfología y preservación sugiere que son jóvenes.
Coropuna es uno de una cadena de volcanes en el sur de Perú.

Coropuna se necesita aclimatación y buenas condiciones físicas, también entrenamiento mínimo
con el equipo de escalada (crampones y piolet) para llegar a la cima. Todos los itinerarios van desde
3 días hasta 6 días, hay rutas comunes; el primero es ir a Laguna Pallarcocha y atacar la cara sur, el
segundo es al pueblo de Maucallaqta ubicado en el noroeste y desde allí ser acompañado por
animales de transporte como burros, esta es la forma fácil de llegar al campamento base ubicado por
encima de 5300M. Las montañas aconsejan esta opción para asegurarse de llegar a la cumbre más
alta.
A las 6 AM salimos de Arequipa en nuestro 4x4 privado hacia el noroeste de Arequipa, después de
3 horas de viaje llegaremos al valle agrícola de Majes (600M) donde visitaremos los petroglifos de
Toro Muerto, ubicados en las paredes del desierto de este cañón. Tendremos 2 horas para localizar
más de un centenar de masas talladas de roca volcánica con figuras humanas, animales y vegetales
que fueron trabajadas por las antiguas civilizaciones del Perú hace más de 1200 años. Visitaremos
el cementerio preincaico para ver y obtener explicaciones sobre los restos de la primera civilización
humana de este valle.
Continúe viajando y ascendiendo a Chuquibamba, un bonito valle verde (3000M) allí podremos
almorzar y luego continuaremos conduciendo hasta los Andes por un camino de tierra para obtener
la primera vista de la cara sur del monte Coropuna: las próximas dos horas conducirán y ver los
tercios de la montaña más alta de Perú: esta parte del viaje incluye pasar un bonito bosque andino
de Queñuas o Quiwiña (Polylepis), mucha fauna local como Llamas, Alpacas, Vicuñas, Guanacos,
Cóndores, zorro andino, águila andina, Falcon y La Llareta (Azorella compacta). Alrededor de las
4PM llegamos en 4WD al punto más alto de este viaje que se llama CAMPAMENTO
PALLARCOCHA (4800M) - Instale las carpas y disfrute de un agradable restaurante bajo el cielo
estrellado - Quédese en carpas (L - D).
DÍA 2: CAMPAMENTO BASE PALLARCOCHA - CAMPAMENTO BASE COROPUNA
(5200M)
Hoy puede levantarse alrededor de las 7 a.m. para el desayuno y luego empacar todo nuestro equipo
de campamento, comenzamos una agradable caminata cuesta arriba durante aproximadamente 4
horas para llegar al segundo campamento base (5200M) y acercarnos al Monte Coropuna: hoy se
considerará gradualmente la subida. Nivel medio y acompañado de bonitos paisajes como vista del
pico Solimana.
Levante las carpas y almorzará y tendrá una tarde libre para caminar y obtener más confianza con
Coropuna Mount - Diner y quedarse en carpas (B - L - D).
SERVICIO GRUPAL Y PRIVADO: El itinerario de ascenso será el mismo para ambos servicios.
Hoy a la 1 a.m. o a las 2 a.m. nos levantamos para calentarnos un desayuno energético y luego
todos arreglan su equipo de escalada como crampones, piolet, arnés y cuerda (ángulo de 43°): las
primeras 4 horas que subiremos en la oscuridad nos ayudarán con la luz de nuestros faros tomamos
la cara sur este para obtener una de las cimas más altas de esta montaña masiva: la escalada incluye
una sección de grieta pequeña / grande que prueba nuestras habilidades de escalada para evitar
caídas. El obstáculo más común para superar son las pendientes arriba.
Alrededor de las 5:45 a.m., la primera salida del sol sobre otra montaña más alta alrededor de
Coropuna, crea recuerdos muy agradables e inolvidables de esta excursión de escalada. Después de
6 o 7 horas de escalada intensa / dura, conquistamos la cima de esta montaña y pasamos unos
preciosos minutos disfrutando del andino. paisaje a nuestro alrededor.
Alrededor de las 2 p. M., Después de empacar todo el equipo de campamento, desciende para
encontrar el 4WD y conduce de regreso a Arequipa durante aproximadamente 7 horas. Cada
participante será trasladado a sus hoteles y al final del servicio (B - L).
SOLO SERVICIO PARA GRUPOS: los escaladores deben esperar al lado de la carretera hasta las
8 p.m. o las 9 p.m. para un autobús público que viene del cañón Cotahuasi y luego 8 horas de viaje
en autobús que llegan a Arequipa alrededor de las 2 a.m. (4to día) - Traslado desde la parada de
autobús al hotel y fin del servicio.
