1. Project Title

“The Role and Impact of Discipline on the Academic Performance of the High

School Students of Maranatha Christian Academy of Caloocan, Inc.”

2. Statement of the problem

Disciplines and academic performances are the core of our today’s education. Some

students have attributed poor performance in academic to high level of indiscipline.

Nevertheless, it becomes imperative in recent times that many schools have traded away

discipline and as a result led to poor academic performance of students. This study was

carried out to establish the relationships between schools discipline and students’ academic

performance. Lack of good discipline has a negative impact on effective teaching and

learning.

The research problem is to acquire a better understanding of factors that contribute to

poor discipline among high school learners in Maranatha Christian Academy of Caloocan.

3. Overview of literature

Lilian Mussa had conducted a study on the role of discipline on education in 2015.

The study attempted to examine the suitability of set rules and regulations in best performing

and least performing schools; to examine the mechanisms in place that ensures that students’

abides to prescribed rules and regulations; to examine how the students punishment

management influence academic performance and to investigate how the administration of

school rules and regulation contribute to students’ academic performance.

Conducting such detailed study is an empirical step to record some information about

the role of discipline to the education and its impact to academic performance.
4. The conceptual framework

Quantitative research method, this study will be used to know the role and impact of

discipline on the academic performance of the high school students of Maranatha Christian

Academy of Caloocan, Inc. This also employed cross sectional research survey design in

which questionnaire was the main instrument of data collection in addition to interview guide

and document review.
