I believe that students goals should be held to a high standard and that more importantly
student goals are achievable and reachable. Students supports shall be in place to secure this high level
of learning.
I believe that I am proficient in assessing cultural differences in students and will strive to
nourish those differences and celebrate them in the classroom. Modeling and highlighting student
diversity in the classroom are crucial and shall be met on a daily basis.
I shall take the time to get to know my students by engaging in conversation that considers the
whole student and their everyday lives. I shall encourage respectable and caring relationships with all
students, keep an open mind and strive wholeheartedly to present fairness in all situations.
As a teacher I acknowledge that I shall be in the public spotlight not only in the classroom but
out of the classroom as well. I will be cognizant of my behavior and uphold myself to always being the
best that I can be and striving to remain professional in all things.
I shall keep striving for excellence as a teacher. I will engage in knowledge seeking throughout
my career, there will always be something new to learn, a new strategy to try out a better more
relatable way to teach. I will keep an open mind to change and incorporate new ideas as needed. I will
seek feedback as this is a surefire way to assist in self-reflection.
I am not perfect, taking on the responsibility of educating the youth of today may seem
daunting to many, that is not how I feel. I am ready to make a difference in students lives, I am ready to
create change, one smile at a time. I do not know all there is to know, in fact I have much to learn. I am
eager to do so. The more I know the more I can help students by empowering them with knowledge and
increasing their motivation to be lifelong learners. I want students to love learning as much as I do.
When I started my schooling at GCU, I could have never anticipated the amount of work and
attention this career would take. The hard work of teachers may sometime go unnoticed sometimes but
the personal development and growth a teacher can gain is endless. I’ve learned how much care goes
into teaching and how selfless teachers should be. The areas I need to focus on is educating in the
classroom, adapting lesson plans to fit student needs and incorporating different teaching and learning
styles. I hope to keep learning more as each day goes by from incorporating mentor feedback and
assessing student growth.
