INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

In woodworking, ripping wood on the table saw is probably the action

you'll be doing the most. The table saw makes quick and accurate
work of milling wood down to workable sizes. Ripping wood means
feeding the material along the grain of the wood through the blade to
make a cut along the length of the wood.
A featherboard is a safety device used when working with
stationary routers or power saws such as table saws or bandsaws. The
purpose of a featherboard is to apply pressure against a workpiece, keeping
it flat against a machine table or fence. However, there are some things that
feather board cannot do.

In cutting multiple thin strips with the same thickness, the existing
featherboard does not have a adjustable alignment stopper that will guide
the wood to the blade, rather the existing featherboard needs to manually re-
align by unlocking, removing, reversing and re-adjusting before continuing
cutting another piece also another problem is that when you adjust the miter
gauge, chances are the flexible fingers will move when you put the wood
back and that can lead to errors in cutting.

According to stumpy nuds woodworking journal, using flexible fingers as

stopper may lead to cutting errors, instead the use of the back portion of the
featherboard to act as a stopper to cut multiple thin strips and there is no
anti-kickback to support the wood and that will lead to errors.

Inconvenience of feather board set-up to cut multiple thin strips, eventually

resulting in poor efficiency output.

In order to cut multiple thin strips without inconveniency, the Innovation of

featherboard with adjustable alignment stopper for table cutting is
introduced, using t-bolts as a locking device, a Y shaped-type of blocker is
attached in the middle part of the featherboard that will act as a stopper to
align the wood from the featherboard.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The general objective of the study is to innovate the featherboard with

adjustable alignment stopper in order to cut multiple thin strips with
inconvenience and efficiency.

Specific Objectives of the Study

1. Can the adjustable alignment stopper help featherboard in cutting

multiple thin strip?
2. How effective is adjustable alignment stopper in featherboard?

To answer the question above, the researchers need to:

1. Design a prototype.
2. Fabricate and Develop the prototype.
3. Test and evaluate the prototype to be used in order to satisfy the
desired product.
4. Gather, analyze and interpret results.

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

This study aims to innovate the featherboard with adjustable alignment

stopper for table cutting to produce multiple thin strips with convenience.
