Abstract
This descriptive research sought to determine the Factors affecting the academic performance
of the grade 6 pupils with large family size in an extension site. Specifically, this study aimed to
answer the following questions: What are the factors that affect the academic performance of
grade 6 pupils with large family size? Why are they considered factors? What are the difficulties
encountered by the grade 6 pupils with large family size? The subjects of this study are the
grade six pupils of Tiu Cho Teg Ana-Ros Foundation Integrated School. The instrument used for
this research was the researcher-made checklist. The needed data was collected during the
conduct of the study. The result of the study showed that among the 11 factors given by the
and family relationship was ranked a s five factors that highly affects the academic performance
of the grade six pupils with large family size and the results of the study also implies that the
lack of self-confidence, large family size, and the low socio-economic status were the difficulties
mostly encountered by the grade 6 pupils with large family size in an extension site. It was
concluded that self-confidence, ranked as the highest by the students was the factor that
mostly affects the academic performance of the pupils with large family size. On the basis of
the findings derived from the study and the conclusion drawn by the researchers, the following

educators in the field of self-confidence and help teachers develop skills related to ˺
students especially increasing self-confidence; (2) Educators and Teachers, may shape
self-esteem every day, in the normal course of interacting with their students; (3)
increased student-teacher relationship; (4) Parents, may help their child learn to do
things by showing and helping them at first. Praising their child, but doing it wisely; (5)
Department of Health, may organize some seminars for educators and teachers and
also for parents about mental health awareness; (6) Department of Social Welfare and
schools targeting students with low self-confidence; (7) Future Researchers, may
