Objective of the Policy


* To have better understanding and to know the names of guest body parts
(anatomy)
* Therapist need to be aware of parts of the body which one to concentrate and
be careful of.

Policy & Procedure

Anatomy training must be undertaken shortly after departmental induction and before
the first massage is performed on a spa client.
• The Spa manager or Supervisor is responsible for instructing therapists making them
aware of common client complaints i.e. Sore lower back, Tennis Elbow, Rotor Cuff
injury.
• At the end of the training session the therapist should be able to:
o Recite all common body parts (at least 40 body part names) from the examples
below.
o Demonstrate which muscles and muscle groups are used in the following tasks
(can be demonstrated by pointing to the muscle groups used):
• Lifting a box up off the floor
• Picking up a glass of water off the table.
• Lifting your arms from your side to above your head.
• Clapping your hands together.
• Climbing a ladder.
