DATASHEET TRIMBLE UX5 AERIAL IMAGING SOLUTION

The Trimble® UX5 Aerial Imaging Solution is setting

the standard for fast and safe aerial data collection
by offering a complete system with powerful
technologies such as reversed thrust & automatic
failsafe procedures, a robust design, and radically
simplified workflow. The UX5 comes with a camera
modified to capture near-infrared (NIR) spectrum.
Images from the NIR-enabled camera provide
crop health indicators for use in crop scouting to
detect pests, weeds, mineral deficiencies, and other
potential problems in agriculture.

Key Features
• Apply imagery for crop scouting to detect pests,
weeds, mineral deficiencies, and other potential
problems in agriculture
• Capture 180 acres (73 hectares) of imagery at one
inch (2.5 cm) resolution in a single flight
• Operate in crosswinds up to 37 mph (60 km/h)
• Use reverse thrust for precise landings in
confined spaces
• Compute an orthomosaic, a digital surface model,
and a 3D point cloud from each flight using the
photogrammetry module

Automatic Procedures for Maximum Safety

The Trimble UX5 offers a safer method to collect
data compared to traditional crop and land
surveying methods. Flights are conducted in a
fully automated manner, from launch to landing,
and require no piloting skills. The operator merely
facilitates the aircraft’s operation and built-in safety
procedures ensure safe and successful flights each
time. This means that data collection is performed
without risking injury to individuals as a result of
hazardous terrain, environmental contaminants, or
equipment and machinery.

Valuable Deliverables
Optimized to process data from the Trimble UX5,
the Trimble Business Center Photogrammetry
Module creates impressive deliverables from UX5
imagery. Produce a scaled orthophoto of the
area that can be used to plan crop layout, define
features of interest, identify field boundaries,
or, with the near-infrared-enabled camera,
detect crop health conditions. Trimble Business
Center also produces point clouds, Triangulated
Irregular Network (TIN) models, and contour
maps of the area flown. These can then be used
for crop height measurement, land leveling, and
drainage planning.

The Trimble UX5 Aerial Imaging Solution,

a new standard in crop and field surveying for
professionals who require high performance and
accuracy in a wide range of weather conditions.
