EVENING PRAYER
Thursday of the Third Week of Easter
9 May 2019
EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
The people kneel. The priest or minister exposes the Blessed Sacrament on the monstrance while the
people sing the following hymn:
O SALUTARIS HOSTIA
O Salutaris Hostia
Quae caeli pandis ostium.
Bella premunt hostilia;
Da robur, fer auxilium.
Uni trinoque Domino,
Sit sempiterna gloria:
Qui vitam sine termino,
Nobis donet in patria. Amen.
If a priest exposed the Blessed Sacrament, he incenses it. A short moment of silence follows.
INTRODUCTORY VERSES
All stand. Then, all sing the following hymn:
WE ADORE YOU
Then, the presider and the people make the Sign of the Cross.

PSALMODY
After the hymn, all sit and sing the psalms with their antiphons.
ANTIPHON 1:
The Lord God has given him
the throne of David his father, alleluia.
PSALM 132
GOD’S PROMISES TO THE HOUSE OF DAVID
The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David (Luke 1:32).

The presider:
Father,
in this holy season
we come to know the full depth of your love.
You have freed us from the darkness of error and sin.
Help us to cling to your truths with fidelity.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
The people reply: Amen.
BENEDICTION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
The people kneel. The priest proceeds to the altar and incenses the Blessed Sacrament as the following
hymn is sung:
TANTUM ERGO
Let us pray.

so to revere the sacred mysteries
of your Body and Blood
that we may always experience in ourselves
the fruits of your redemption.
Who live and reign with God the Father
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
The people reply: Amen.
The priest then takes the humeral veil and gives the blessing with the Blessed Sacrament.
EUCHARISTIC ACCLAMATION
the presider leads the people in reciting the following acclamations:
