B. Tech “DERIVATION OF AN EQUATION FOR COMPUTING THE DESIGN FLOOD IN THE
BRAHAMANI BASIN, ODISHA”
The project envisages derivation of an equation for computing design flood in
Brahmani Basin in Odisha. By computing design flood for different sub basins in
the brahmani basin, an empirical formula for Odisha region is derived, which may
help in the project planning of any future project in this basin.
M. Tech “DEVELOPING A RULE CURVE FOR OPERATION OF HIRAKUD RESERVOIR UNDER
CONFLICTING WATER DEMAND BY ANALYTIC APPROACH AND WITH HEDGING POLICY”
An analytic approach is been taken to tackle the drastic storage variations in the
Hirakud reservoir, Odisha to meet the increasing demand scenarios. In this, the
rainfall and runoff conditions of the reservoirs are used to evaluate the functioning
of the dam to meet the daily and seasonal variations from the Rule curve. This is
an attempt to develop a full proof functional rule curve and a concrete theory for
flood forecasting.
