    Personal area networks (PANs) use Bluetooth technology for short-range wireless communication between devices within 10 to 100 meters. A Bluetooth PAN, called a piconet, connects up to 8 devices consisting of 1 master and 7 slave nodes. Data is transmitted at 1 Mbps using the 2.4 GHz unlicensed frequency band with transmission power ranging from 1mW to 0.1 watts. The Bluetooth protocol stack handles various functions from the application layer down to the physical layer.

    It is short range technology use for communication. It use 2.4 GHz band, which is a free band. Its communication range is 10 to 100 meters. It forms two types of network Piconet Scatter network

    Link manager

    Its responsibility is to manage connection status among slaves, and utilize their resources like processing and power management fairly. In stand by mode of a node new node can be connected with master. Link manager use sniff mode to park more than 200 nodes in a piconet. This mode provide very low power connection.
