Homework Assistance Program 2011


The North Penn/Indian Valley Boys & Girls Club is a non-profit organization that relies on public and private foundations to support the operation of our facilities. The Club is required to meet certain guidelines set by Montgomery County HUD (Housing and Urban Development) that families MUST meet in order to be eligible for participation in the 2011-2012 Homework Assistance Program. The total income of every working adult living in the household must fall on or below the table below.

Students must attend one of the following Title 1 schools (Subject to change in September) : A.M. Kulp Hatfield Inglewood Knapp Oak Park York Ave. Walton Farm North Wales

Annual Membership Fee $20 per child Office Hours 9:00 a.m.8:00 p.m. Hours of Operation Monday-Friday Open @ 3:00 Leaving Times Ages 6&7 7:00 8-9 7:30 10& up 8:00 Age restrictions do not apply if children are attending a structured program.
The Club may close periodically for special events

If you meet the income qualifications and your child is a student at one of the Title 1 schools (North Penn), you are eligible to register for the program. The necessary documents required at registration are as follows (you will not be permitted to register without all of the necessary documents): 2010-1040 Tax Return and/ or Access Card 2 current pay stubs from each working adult living in the house.

Planned Giving can be as simple as naming the Boys & Girls Club for a bequest through your will, or as a beneficiary or partial beneficiary in a life insurance policy. There are many gifts that can meet a variety of needs, and provide tax deductions or additional current income for you or a loved one. A charitable gift annuity, a charitable trust or a gift of appreciated assets may make sense for your situation. You can make a difference for others and yourself as well. Tween Nights
Come join us for an event just for tweens! This is a fun filled evening of music , dancing and your favorite Club activities like dodge ball, Xbox 360 Kinect and more! Non-members must have signed a guest permission slip which can be found at npvclub.org. LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL
For a full listing of special events and programs, please pick up a monthly calendar at the front desk or visit our website at www.npvclub.org Join us for our 7th annual national event to celebrate the need for afterschool programs that help keep kids safe, help working families and improve academic achievement. Potluck Family Dinner & Dance


Come join the Boys & Girls Club for an old fashioned potluck dinner. Food will be provided but families are encouraged to bring their favorite dish to share! The fun will continue after dinner with a family dance. Please call the Club if your family will be attending.

International Fair
Join our Youth For Unity and travel around the world within the walls of the Club! Members will be able to sample food, listen to music and learn traditions from countries all over the world.

RALLY IN THE VALLEY
The Rally in the Valley is a road rally scavenger hunt. Teams will challenge each other and themselves as they take on our 15 checkpoint challenges. Each challenge will test your team physically and mentally. The team with the lowest combined time to complete all challenges will be the winner.

Calling all teachers!! Come over and visit the Club! See what your students are getting into after the bell rings. This is a great way for teachers to interact and learn about their students outside the classroom. EVERY TUESDAY 4:00-6:00 Teachers must present their school credentials when participating in this program

Indian Valley Arena Flag Football League


Each year we work to accommodate the increasing number of youth wanting to be part of this popular program. We will offer four age divisions again this year. This program is for both boys and girls ages 6 18. League will run for seven weeks followed by playoffs. Indian Valley Kickball League


Join the kickball league to meet new friends and to take part in a team experience! Games are held weekly and are played in Mat-Ball style. Each team will have an appointed captain. The top two teams will go head to head in the championship game! Come in and sign your child up for WANNA PLAY. This program is designed to increases members physical fitness by focusing on agility, balance and coordination. This program features a variety of fun and engaging activities and games to help Club members improve their fitness, increase awareness of good nutrition and hydration, and learn basic baseball and softball skills and knowledge.

This fall the Boys & Girls Club will be celebrating diversity through a fun and rewarding experience. Each week the members in this program will learn to appreciate themselves for being unique and special individuals while understanding diversity in their society. This program will end with an International Festival created by Youth for Unity members. You don t want to miss this!
Do you want to save the world? Do you want to make a difference in the community? This is the program for you. Members will work together with the Peak Center in making a difference in our community. Dates and time to be announced at the Program Fair AGES: 8-12

Character & Leadership


REAL WORLD TEENS
During this program, teenagers will have the opportunity to openly discuss the issues that frustrate them in their real world . All personalities are welcome to come and share their thoughts, questions and concerns about topics like drugs & alcohol, media impact, bullying, etc. in a judgment free zone.

If you are interested in becoming a leader in our Club and within our neighborhood, than the Keystone Club is the program for you! Keystone Club members take on a number of responsibilities around the Club and act as role models for our younger Club members. Keystoners learn the value of teamwork while they take on a variety of projects including running their own weekly meetings, earning and managing money, career exploration and much more! Are you prepared to become a leader among your peers? Do you want to make a difference in lives around you? If so, the Torch Club will teach you leadership skills and will give you a sense of belonging as you join others in this character building club. Torch Club members will take on roles of responsibility as they help with structuring of Club activities in the areas of community service, education and fitness. The Arts
CREATIVE ART WORKSHOP
Whether you doodle or draw, you re welcome to attend this workshop. Every Monday the Club will be offering a workshop period where members can drop in and dabble in the arts. All skill levels are encouraged to check this out. Selected pieces of art from this workshop will be chosen to move on to our National Fine Arts Exhibit program. Ages: ALL Cost: $5.00 Day: Mondays 6:00-7:00 October 3rd-November 28th ( N O class Oct. 10th & Nov. 21st )
Submission Date: Friday, December 2nd Art exhibit date and location will be made available at the Club Ages: All This competition, which encourages creativity through a variety of media, is made of local, regional and national exhibits. Young people are encouraged to create artwork or bring in a piece from home or school in any of the following categories: monochromatic drawing, multicolored drawing, pastels, water color, oil or acrylic, print making, mixed media, collage and sculpture. Artwork selected through a national competition is displayed at BGCA s annual National Conference.

Thanksgiving Food Drive


This years Torch Club and Keystone Club members will collect Thanksgiving meals for families in need this autumn season. To donate to this effort, please stop by the Club and drop off your bags and boxes. All donated items must be brought in by Wednesday, November 9th. Items will be taken to Keystone Opportunity Center for distribution or donated to our families in need.
