    1. Download MD NASTRAN-PATRAN (Student Edition)


    In order to download the software, the student must click in the following link:

    http://www.mscsoftware.com/Academia/Student-Edition/Default.aspx
    Then, the following screen will appear:

    In this screen you have to go to the top window and click on: FREE Download Now

    This button will lead you to:

    If you are not registered, you must click on: REGISTER


    On the following form, you must enter your personal data in order to be able to download the
    software:

    In the Upload ID option you must include a file (previously scanned) which should be your
    student identification (student card, etc.)

    Select your scanned file and SEND

    Once you have clicked on REGISTER to finish the registration, MSC will send you an email to
    confirm your user ID:

    Click on the link which is in the email and enter your User name and Password.

    Once you access the software download, you must choose the MD NASTRAN-PATRAN Student
    Edition download

    Download the program:

    Click on save and choose the location of the file.

    Start the download:

    2. Installing MD NASTRAN-PATRAN Student Edition

    Open the file in which you have downloaded the software and run it:

    The installer will open, then click on Next>

    Read and agree to the conditions of the license and click on Next>

    You have to choose the Complete Installation Option and click on Next (If you want to change
    the location where the program is installed by default, press Browse and select the location
    wanted).

    The following screen shows a summary of the options selected. Click on Next>

    The installation is ready to start:

    When the installation process is completed, it is necessary to select the location where we
    want to create the folder. If you want to use SCRATCH NASTRAN folder, leave it in the default
    path (C).

    On the following screen there is the option to create a shortcut on the desktop for MD
    NASTRAN, click on YES:

    You are asked where you want to place the home directory which is going to be used by
    default in the program shortcuts. It must remain in the default path, then, click on Next>

    Next, you will be asked where the software license file is located. You must write : 1700@
    localhost

    A message will appear saying that the specified server is down or inaccessible at the moment
    and asking you if you are going to use it anyway, click on yes.

    Then you will be asked if you have installed the Pro/ENGINEER, so you must specify the path
    where you have installed it and click in Next>

    If you have not installed Pro / ENGINNER, the following message will appear. To continue with
    the installation, click on Yes

    On the final screen, click on Finish in order to complete the installation of the program.

    To run the program, you just have to click in the shortcut which will appear on the desktop:

    Finally, you can start using the program
