BOXTOPS
The first semester deadline for the class competition is quickly approaching! Turn
in all your boxtops and labels for education by this Friday, January 15! The top 3
classes right now are 1st - Mr. Raley, 2nd-Mrs. Norris, and 3rd- Mrs.
Komyati. Place your boxtops and labels in a ziplock labeled with your teacher's
name and put in the collection bin outside the media center! Class winners will be
announced soon!
VARIETY SHOW
Auditions are coming up in the next few weeks! Stay tuned for details. Students
who are interested in auditioning should start thinking about what they want to
perform and begin preparing pieces.

donation to that charity. During the research phase, each classroom held a penny
war, raising money that would later be donated. Students then wrote a fiveparagraph persuasive essay, convincing their peers to donate the money we raised
to their charity. After a vote in each classroom, Douglas Elementary School's 5th
graders will be donating more than $900 to the following four charities: Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, The ASPCA and World Vision.
Way to go, 5th grade!!!!
