We are hosting our fifth annual Hoedown for HOPE fundraiser

with guest speaker, JUSTIN OSMOND! The fundraiser will be a
memorable evening including a delicious dinner, music and
dancing, raffles, auctions and prizes.

Unique Spokane HOPE Programs

Birth-3 In Home Therapy: HOPEs certified Teacher of the Deaf, along with Spokanes early
intervention providers, serves children with hearing loss ages birth to three, starting at the time
of diagnosis. Parents are taught, through home visits, how to increase their childs awareness to
sound, to attend to sound in the environment, and to develop early communication skills that
will lay a foundation for speech and language.
Parent/Toddler Program: Under the guidance of a certified Teacher of the Deaf, with
specialized Listening and Spoken Language training, toddlers and parents participate in
structured play activities. Our toddler group program is focused on developing caring and
collaborative partnerships with parents that facilitate spoken language development through
listening.
Preschool Program: Students receive individual speech-language therapy services from
graduate students, as well as instruction from a certified Teacher of the Deaf. The small
classroom size of eight provides a low ratio between adults and students in the classroom and
ensures an intimate, child-centered school experience.

Spokane HOPEs Unique Relationship

with Riverpoint Campus

There is a unique relationship between Spokane

Hearing Oral Program of Excellence, Eastern
Washington University and Washington State
University. Unlike any other graduate programs,
Spokane HOPE provides access to an existing
operating clinic on the Riverpoint campus.
Different from other campuses, students
attending EWU and WSU have the opportunity
to complete clinical hours on school grounds
with the children attending preschool at Spokane
HOPE. These graduates provide daily individual
speech-language therapy and audiology services
to preschool students under the supervision of a
state licensed and nationally certified speech-
language pathologist.

Team!
Shyla Rodgers
Administrative Assistant
Shyla assists HOPE with the internal and
external administration needs of the
organization. She has over 30 years of experience
supporting the administrative functions of a
medical clinic.
Stacey Cahill
Instructional Assistant
Stacey is HOPEs instructional assistant in the
morning and afternoon for preschool classes. She
brings a wealth of experiences working with
children of all ages including primary students with
special needs.

Danette Driscoll, M.Ed.
Executive Director
Danette works as HOPEs Executive Director, and has over
twenty years of experience in k-12 education. For the last ten
years, she has been an administrator in the Mead School District
as Director of Curriculum and Instruction and opened the first
STEM+Entrepreneurship high school in Eastern Washington.
Danettes passion has always been in supporting students that
have unique learning needs.
Kim Schafer
Outreach & Development Director
Kim is the Outreach and Development Director at HOPE,

raising awareness of the challenges of hearing loss and the
benefits of accessing early intervention services. Kim brings to
HOPE her experience as a parent who raised a deaf daughter
with a cochlear implant into a confident, independent, happy
and successful oral child.
Amy Hardie, M.Ed.

Director of Education, Teacher of the Deaf
Amy is the Director of Education and Teacher of the Deaf at
Spokane HOPE. She provides early intervention in-home therapy
to children birth to three years of age, and coaches their parents
on how to immerse their child in language. Amy also leads the
weekly Toddler Group, where children and their parents come
together to further their language and social development.
Samantha Schraven, M.Ed.

Teacher of the Deaf
Samantha is HOPEs Teacher of the Deaf, and teaches our
morning and afternoon pre-school classes. She earned her
bachelors degree in Communication Sciences and
Disorders from the University of Maine and her Masters
in Education of the Deaf from Smith College.
