This standard applies to machine structural use alloy steels (hereinafter referred to as steel materials) that are mainly produced by hot rolling, hot forging, etc.

40 types of steel materials are defined including Mn, Mn-Cr, Cr, Cr-Mo, Ni-Cr, Ni-Cr-Mo and Al-Cr-Mo steels.
